Telephone 211 loss INEZ CRAWFORD'S ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED Mrs. Gilmer Crawford, of Franklin, has announced the engagement of her daughter, Miss May Inez Crawford, to Frank Isaac Murray, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank I. Mur ray, also of Franklin. The wedding will take place August 22. MISS MARY E. HIGDON MARRIES CAPT. INGRAM The marriage of Miss Mary EUen Higdon, of Washington, D. C., formerly of Franklin, and Capt. H. D. Ingram, Jr., U. S. Air Force, was solemnized on Saturday, June 6, at the St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Washington. Miss Higdon is the daughter of John W. Higdon, of Frank lin, and Mrs. Mary Southard, of Asheville. Capt. Ingram is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Ingram, of Birmington, Ala. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home Otf the bride. After the recep tion, the couple left for a wed ding trip in Pennsylvania. Upon their return they will reside at Willow Run, Mich., where Capt. Ingram is station ed. MORGAN-CIA YTON WEDDING MARKED Miss Hazel Morgan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Judd Morgan, of Franklin, became the bride of George William Clayton, Jr., of Andrews and Asheville, on Sunday, June 7, at the Franklin Methodist Church. The Rev. C. E. Murray, pas tor, performed the double-ring ceremony. A program of wed ding music was presented by ?Irs. Henry Cabe, organist, and Mrs. Clarence Henry, vocalist. The church was decorated with native greenery, floor baskets of white gladiolus, and candelabra holding lighted cathedral tapers. The bride, given In marriage by her father, wore a ballerina length gown of imported Chan tiliy lace accented by a small scalloped collar and scalloped short sleeves with matching lace mitts. The scalloped motif was .repeated in the bouffant skirt. Her finger tip veil of illusion was attached to a Juliet cap of matching lace trimmed with seed pearls. She carried a bou quet of white roses centered with gardenias. Mrs. Edwin T. Williams was the bride's only attendant. She was attired in a white nylon net over ice blue bodice and matching bolero. Her head dress was a bandeau of flow ers and she carried a nosegay of mixed pastel flowers. G. W. Clayton, Sr., father of the bridegroom, served as best man. Ushers were Edwin T. Williams and Merrill Rayburn, of Kingston, Tenn. The mother of the bride wore a dress of mauve lace with which she used black and white accessories. Her corsage was of white rosebuds. Mrs. Clayton, mother of the hridegroom, was attired In a rose crepe dress with white ac cessories. Her flowers were white rosebuds. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents entertained with a reception at their home for members of the wedding party and the immediate families. Arrangements of snap-dragon in pastel shades and babies breath were used in decorat ing. The bride's table was over laid with a lace cloth and cen tered with a three-tiered wed ding cake. After the reception, the cou ple left for a short wedding trip. The bride wore a white linen suit with brown and white accessories. Mrs. Clayton is a graduate of Western Carolina College. CuUowbee, and teaches at Clyde High School. Mr. Clayton la a graduate of N. C. State College. Raleigh, and a veteran of World War U. He Is now employed aa a right of-way engineer with the N. C. State Highway Commission In Ashevllle. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Joe Caputo, of Fort Myers, Fla., arrived last week to spend their eighth consecutive summer In Frank lin. They are occupying Mrs. F. H. Nolen's apartment. G. A. Jones, Jr., of Raleigh, was here briefly last week, vis iting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilmer A. Jones. Mr. and Mrs. James R. Dance and sons, of Knoxville, Tenn., spent several days here last week as guests of Mrs. Dance's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Zeb Angel. Eugene Taylor spent last week at Berea College, Berea, Ky., as the guest of his sister, Miss Maxine Taylor. On his return he was accompanied by Miss Taylor, who will spend the sum mer with her mother, Mrs. Zeb Taylor. She will return to Berea in the fall. Mrs. Emily Dawson, of Ozona, Fla., and La Grange, 111., has purchased the Goude home on the Nantahala Mountain at Bird Gap and is living there with her daughter, Mrs. Helen War tenberg. Mr. and Mrs. Paul NSherwin, of St. Petersburg, Fla., have arrived to spend the Summer at their cabin on the Wayah Road. Mrs. W. K. Hooker and two daughters have returned to their home followinb a 10-day visit in Louden, Tenn. Mr. and Mrs. Flaman Ball, of Babson Park, Fla., are occupy ing their summer residence on Palmer Road. Mrs. R. S. Jones and son, Richie, are yisiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Hol man, in La_ Grange. Ga. Mr. and ' Mrs. Howard Tes reau, of Wayah road, are vis iting in Missouri. Mrs. Jim Roper left last week to make her home In Rochester, N. Y. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Jacobs and Miss Kate Jacobs spent several days in Charlotte last week. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Conley and son have returned to their home in Drayton Plains, Mich., following a two-week visit with his mother, Mrs. Zeb Conley. Mr. and Mrs. Merrltt Preston and two children, of Cleveland, Ohio, are guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Conley. S-Sgt. Grady J. Greene, of Smoky Hill Air Force Base, Kan., has been called home because of the illness of his grandfather, D. C. Greene. Mr. and Mrs. George McPherson and daughter, who have been visiting Mr. Greene, have re turned to Tampa, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hardison and son, Don, of Tifton, Ga., are guests of Mrs. R. M. Rim mer.
