"Goog" Holt, Jr., held Whittier to one hit untU the ninth inning Sunday, but a rally In the ninth, combined with Highlands errors, gave the visitors three more runs for a 4 to 2 victory. Holt, home on a 15-day leave from the navy, chalked up 17 strike-outs in the home game. Highlands scored first in the third as "Jimbo" Potts came in off a hit by "Snook" Thomp son. Whittier tied the score in the sixth. The locals again pulled ahead in the eighth when Newton scored off a Thompson single. But it was the final inning that turned the tables. Begin ning at the top of the batting order, the first two Whittier men got on base on errors. Number three man singled to load the bases with no outs. The tieing run was scored on a single, and an attempted steal home was squelched. Two more hits brought in as many runs. Holt struck out two in a row to retire the side. In the Highlands half of the ninth, Fred Hopper popped out to first and Gene Houston was put out at first. An error put Jack Norton, pinch-hitting for Edward Potts, on base, but out numbered three left him on.
