Carson Sets Meet Saturday To Talk About Building By I. FRED BRYSON (Community Reporter) The Carson Rural Community Development Organization met Monday night. March 8, at the Carson Chapel Methodist Church. A movie, "The South ern Highlanders", was shown. N. A. Waldroop reported that 500 white pine seedlings were set out last Saturday by the Boy Scouts on the picnic area This project was supervised by the beautification committee. Saturday morning, March 13, has been designated as "clean up day" lor the picnic area and also for making preparations for starting construction of the community building. A large crowd with shovels and axes is expected to be there by 8:30 a. m. Mrs. Jim Cunningham was in charge of the birthday social hour. Ten persons whose birth day has been since January 1 were lined up around a three tiered cake decorated with can dles and "Happy Birthday" was sung. Dry man Charles VirgU Dryman, 76, a native of this county, died Feb ruary 28 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Noah Henry, in j Pickens, S. C? following an ill- j ness of about a week. Funeral services for Mr. Dry- I man. who had been living in Pickens for the last three years, were conducted March 2 at the Asbury Methodist Church at Otto. The Rev. R. L. Poindexter, \ pastor, officiated and burial was in the Dryman 's Chapel ceme tery. Mr. Dryman was born March 5, 1877. He was married to the former Miss Martha Jane Cabe, who died in 1951. In addition to .Mrs. Henry, he is survived by three other chil dren, William Dry man, of Frank lin, Fred Dryman, of Otto, and Mrs. George Conley, also of Otto, and 29 grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were Ernest Conley, Don Conley. Noah Lee Henry, J. L. Henry, James Virgil Henry, and Claude Dry man.
