Mrs. Eugene Mashburn, the
former Miss Marianne Sherrlll,
was honored with a kitchen
shower, given by Miss Caroline
Crawford and Miss Freda Slier,
Monday night at the Slier home
on West Main Street.
The house was decorated
throughout with early summer
flowers. The tea table was over
laid with a linen cloth, center
ed with a silver bowl contain
ing white flowers. Punch, sand
wiches and cake were served.
Approximately 25 guests were
present.

held at the home of the bride's
sister, Mrs. Dave Chastain, of
Dillard, Route 1.
Fireman Moore will return to
New York July 1, where he is
now stationed. Mrs. Moore will
be at the home of her sister,
Mrs. Chastain.

The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a gown of
imported Chantilly lace and
nylon tulle over taffeta. The
fitted bodice was fashioned with
a portrait neckline outlined
with pleated tulle and appli
qued with lace. The long lace
sleeves ended in calla lily points
over the hands. The skirt fea
tured a deep scalloped tunic of
lace over a bouffant skirt of
nylon net which fell into a
chapel train. Her fingertip veil
of imported illusion was attach
ed to a Juliet cap of lace, em
broidered with seed pearls. She
wore a single strand of pearls
and carried a bouquet of white
roses, centered with a white
orchid.
Miss Patti Lou Phillips, sister
of the bride, was maid of hon
or. She wore a floor-length
gown of blue nylon net over
taffeta, fashioned with a strap
less bodice and matching stole.
The bouffant skirt was encir
cled with tiers of nylon net ruf
fles extending into points mid
way of the skirt. The wide belt
of pleated taffeta was tied into
a large bow in the back with
the ends falling the length of
the drew. She wore a coif cap
of nylon net and lace with
miniature flowers on the side.
She carried a no?gay of mixed
pastel flowers.
The bridesmaids were Mrs.
Jimmy Leach, of Greensboro,
Miss Nancy Woodruff, of Nash
ville, Miss flora Lou Morgan, of
Maxton, and Miss Joyce Dance,
cousin of the groom, of New
York City. Their gowns were In
rainbow colors of nlle green, '
archld, pint, and yellow, fash
ioned like that of the honor at- 1
tendant, and they carried slm- 1
liar nosegays.

The couple left by car for a
southern wedding trip. For trav
eling, the bride wore a navy
suit of summer faile with a
jacket lined in white with navy
polka dots and a matching
blouse. Her accessories were
navy and white and she wore
a white orchid corsage.
Mrs. Biddle is a graduate of
Peace College, Raleigh, and the
University of North Carolina,
where she was a member of the
Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. The
past year she has been a mem
ber of the faculty of Boyden
High School In Salisbury.
Mr. Biddle attended East Ten
nessee State College, Jolinson
City, and the University of
Tennessee, Knoxville, where he
was a member of the Phi Gam
ma Delta fraternity. He is now
serving in the U. S. Army at
Fort Jackson, S. C.
The couple will live in Co
lumbia, 8- C., for the present.
