Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lee Moore, of Franklin, a daughter, Sep tember 1, at Angel Hospital. j Notel Dies In Asheville Sanatorium George Noetel, 65, retired Chicago, 111., heating contractor and Franklin resident for the past three years, died Monday at the Pisgah Sanatorium in Asheville. A native of Germany, Mr. Noetel had been in declining health for some time and had been at the sanatorium for a month. He was an active mem ber of the Franklin Lions Club and owned the Nantahala Building. Funeral services were held in Chicago. He is survived by his Wife, Mrs. Olga Noetel, a step-son, Edwin Under, of Chicago, and a daughter, Mrs. Anne Louise Plaetner, of Germany. COMMUNITY TO MEET A meeting of the Higdonville Rural Community Development Organization is planned Tues day at 7:30 p. m. at the Culla saja School, Joe Higdon, Jr., president, has announced. Church Laymen To Fill Pulpits For Ministers A lay speaker will appear In the pulpit of each of the Meth odist churches in this county Sunday, September 26, under plans in process oi being work ed out. The pastors will be away that Sunday, attending the annual meeting of the denomination's Western North Carolina Con ference. The lay speaker program was Initiated by the Macon Meth odist Men's Club, and a com mittee, headed by Wiley Clark, is lining up Macon County speakers and working out a schedule of engagements for them. The committee is made up of Methodist charge lay leaders and W. N. Sloan, secre tary of the club, together with the pastors of the churches. A number of Methodist churches in this county have services only two or three times a month, and a few only once a month, and the men's club has had under consideration a program to have laymen speak in the churches the Sundays they are without services. Members of the club suggest ed that that program may de velop out of the lay services to be held September 26. Former Teacher To Open Kindergarten Mrs. Pearl Hunter, retired Franklin teacher, plans to oper ate a kindergarten In Hie nurs ery room of the Franklin Meth odist Church beginning Monday morning at 9 o'clock. Mrs. Hunter this week said she will accept children four and five years of age for en rollment. Parents who would like to enroll children are ask ed to contact Mrs. Hunter at her home. Corbin Family Plans Reunion Sunday Descendants of the late John and Mrs. Nancy McClure Cor bin will gether Sunday at the home of Dewey Corbin, in the Holly Springs Community for their annual reunion.
