SCHOLARSHIP LOAN READY Mendenhall Fund Available At State For Local Student A scholarship loan for a Macon student at N. C. State College is now available through the trust ees of the S. W. Mendenhall mem orial fund. At a meeting last Thursday, the trustees voted to make $381.56 available for some needy student. The remainder ? of the memorial fund, $375, has been invested in a $500 Saving Bond. Under the terms of the scholar ship loan, an applicant must be a high school graduate, a resident of the county, and must provide three references. The loan must be repayed to the trustees with in two years after the graduation of the borrower. Trustees for the memorial fund, which was established earlier in the year following the death of County Agent S. W. Mendenhall. include Mrs. Mendenhall, Holland McSwaln. and T. H. Pagg. Scholarship applicants may ob tain 'additional Information from any, of the three trustees. Macon Soldier Helping Build Korean School Sgt. James E. Allred is a school builder in Korea. The Macon County sergeant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Allred. of Franklin, Route 1, is helping to build a new school for Korean children as part of the 7th In fantry Division's armed forces assistance to Korea program, the Army Home Town News Center announced this week.
