With the arrival last week of $3,595 worth of band Instruments, officers of the Boosters empha sized the need for more fund raising campaigns in order to pay this debt. The club only has about $400 on hand, but has assumed the obligation of paying for the instruments so the band can begin functioning again. A "small folk festival", featur ing string bands and individual performers, is planned late this month or in early December as a lund-raising project. Other P. T. A. 's in the county have been asked to sponsor one benefit for the band, which was seriously crippled by the March gymnasium fire. Once the band is equipped, the Boosters plan to concentrate on helping elementary schools raise money for instruments with a county band, composed of all elementary schools, as the ulti mate objective. In addition to East Franklin, Cullasaja P. T. A. also has given $125 to the band instrument fund. The boosters agreed that a small rental charge should be made for the use of the new instruments and left the decision of how much up to school offici als. It was pointed out that enough should be raised through the rentals to pay for instrument repairs and Insurance for all band property.
