News about PEOPLE Phone 24 MRS. M'NAIR WEDS DR. MTUTCHEON Announcement has been made of the marriage of Mrs. Lucie W. McNair to Dr. Roger P. McCutch eon, of Nashville, Tenn., and Franklin. The wedding took place in Memphis February 10. Dr. Mc Cutcheon is well known in Ma con County, having spent a num ber of summers here at his home on Wayah Road. FRED BULGIN GIVEN PARTY ON BIRTHDAY Fred Bulgin was honored on his 13th birthday with a surprise party Saturday night given by his mother, Mrs. John Bulgin, at the home of Mrs. Bob S. Sloan in East Franklin. Square dancing and party games were played. Refreshments of birthday cake and punch were served. Those present were Jane Long, Barbara Duncan, Nancy Siler, Re becca Reeves, Pat Gaines, Ann Fagg, Ann Hall, Linda Smith, Bet ty Ann Bulgin, and Arthur Hays, Douglas Slagle. Charles Slagle, Douglas Vinson. "Buck" Bingham, Mike Nichols, Dick Wallace, Tom my McCollum. and Jim McCollum. Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Orr and children spent Sunday in Greer, S. C., visiting Mr- and Mrs. Carl G. Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Ennis Tilson and daughter, Jerry, visited Mr. and Mrs. Luther Tilson in Mary ville, Tenn., Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Nichols and two children, Mike and Janet, of Asheville, spent the week-end here with Mrs. Nichols' mother, Mrs. Julia E. Calloway. Bruce Bryant attended the Gen eral Electric convention in Louis ville, Ky., Monday through Thurs day of last week. Mi-, and Mrs. Albert Ramsey and small daughter, of Burnsville, spent the week-end here with rela tives. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Palmer and Mr. and Mrs. Charlton Cleveland and daughter, all of Demorest, Ga? were guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Brookshire the past week end. i The Rev. A. Rufus Morgan went to Augusta, Ga., this week to preach a Lenten sermon at the Church of the Good Shepherd there. 11 Mr. and Mrs. James D. Conley arrived Friday from Jacksonville. Fla., where Mr. Conley has been stationed with the U. S. Navy. He recently received his discharge and w|ll be employed at Conley Motor Company here. Mr. and Mrs. Conley have an apartment in the old Leach house on West Main Street. Miss Annette Dalrymple and Miss Sue Deyton, of Robbinsville, both students at Western Caro lina College, Cullowhee, spent a recent week-end with Miss Dal rymple's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Dalrymple. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Moore spent the week-end in Marshville, visit ing friends. Bob S. Sloan, Carl P. Cabe. Charlie Whlttlngton, and David Sutton attended the second an nual North Carolina Press Asso ciation mechanical conference at N. C. State College In Raleigh Sat urday and Sunday. Miss Laura M. Jones left Mon day for a short visit In High Point. E. J. Whitmire spent the week end with his family in Charlotte. Richard Jones, a student at Davidson College, Davidson, ar rived home yesterday (Wednes day) for the spring holidays. Mrs. R. L. THE COOKING CORNER Favorite Recipes Of MACON WOMEN ICE BOX COOKIES V2 cup butter 1 cup brown sugar 1 egg Vi teaspoon soda 1% cups plain flour '/a teaspoon salt Vi teaspoon cinnamon '/2 teaspoon vanilla V2 cup unbroken nut meats Cream butter, sugar, beat in egg. Sift dry ingredients and add to butter mixture with vanilla and nut meats. Shape dough into long roll about 2 inch in diameter. Wrap in aluminum foil. Chill it until hard. Slice in very thin slices.
