Ore Drilling Program Set By Company R. G. Lichtenstein, president of the Carolina Resources Corpora tion here, has announced that his { company will begin its diamond 1 drilling program to test the depth of vermlcullte ore bodies at Its Main Line mine. Core drilling will get under way immediately, he said, and will re quire about 30 days to complete. Mr. Lichtenstein also announc ed that the Bidwell Drift, at the company's Corundum Hill mine, is being reopened to speed explor atory and development work. Lewis Penland, of Palmer Road here, recently was promoted to his present rtank while serving at Camp Gordon, Ga. A graduate of N. C. State Col lege, Lt. Penland was in R.O.T.C. during college and was commis sioned upon graduating. He spent last week-end here with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Justus. He had as his guest, Lt. Therine McCoy, of Independence, Mo. This State spent $134,71,192 for public education in the 1952-53 fiscal year. Young Women Are Graduated At Cullowhee Three young Macon County women were graduated from Western Carolina College, Cullo whee, at the end of the winter term last week. They are Misses Jane Crawford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Laddie Crawford, of Franklin, Route 1; Luanne Gibson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Prank Gibson, of Frank lin, Route 4; and Barbara Grib ble, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gribble, of Franklin, Route 2. Miss Crawford has accepted a teaching position in Hamlet, Miss Gibson will teach in Leaksvllle, and Miss Gribble plans to start I work on a master's degree. Tellico Mrs. Jess Cook, who has been seriously ill, is reported to be improving. The Rev. and Mrs. Garfield Fuller and family, of Swannanoa, recently visited their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Ramsey, Jr. Thad Byrd, of Pontlac, Mich., spent several days visiting his father, E. DeHart. Wesley an Fellowship Organized At Church A Wesleyan Fellowship adult class was organized Sunday eve ning at the Franklin Methodist Church with K. O. Crawford as temporary chairman. Officers for the class are to be named later. The class will meet at the regular Sunday School hour. REVIVAL TO START . The Rev. Robert P. Hamby, of Decatur, Ga., will open a revival series at the Holly Springs Bap tist Church Sunday night, it has been announced.
