Episcopal Women Here For Meeting Episcopal women of District 1, Diocese of Western North Caro lina, were guests of the Frank lin church auxiliary last Thurs day. Short talks were made by Bish op M. George Henry, of Asheville, and the Rev. A. Rufus Morgan, rector. Thirty-six women, representing churches In Brevard, Canton, Waynesville, Andrews, Murphy, Highlands, and Franklin attend ed. Cunningham Groceries, Feeds and Fertilizer GIRL SCOUTS HOLD CRAFT DAY EVENT Pottery Making Taught; Flower Hike Is Held The senior Girl Scout troop sponsored a craft day at Franklin High School cafeteria Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Miss Mary Ulmer, teacher at Cherokee, and four Indian school girls, taught pottery making. Pour pottery figures were selected to be taken to Cherokee to be glazed. They were made by Miss Clemen tine Wininger, senior troop leader, Pat Gaines, Linda Morrow, and Martha Angel. After pottery making, the group went on a wild flower hike and identified 14 flowers and one plant. Memebrs from the other five Macon County Girl Scout troops participated. Fifty girls were pres ent and eight adults. BETHEL GROUP HAS MEETING Makes Plans For Summer Workshop; Supports X-Ray By HAZEL M. ARNOLD (Community Reporter) At a meeting last Thursday night, the Bethel Rural Commun ity Development Organization: Made plans for a work shop in photography and crafts in the summer and a hobby show in the near future. Sent a gift to Graham Grind staff, who is ill. Named several possible couples for the Franklin Centennial king and queen contest, but made no definite selection. Pledged its support of the com ing mass X-ray service. Heard Wiley Clark, chairman of home improvements, tell about public health laws governing cess pools and offer his help to inter ested parties. And, saw a movie on the Galie an Children's Home in Corbin, Ky., shown by the Rev. R. D. Burnette. The devotional, "The Christian Home", was given by Doyle Clark, Mavis McCall, Jessie McConnell, Cleo McDonald, and Hazel Arnold. The next meeting will be an old fashioned party with all dress ed in old timey clothes. Mrs Gladys Burnette will be in charge. To Work Saturday On Hickory Knoll Church Building Members plan to work on the new Hickory Knoll church build in? Saturday it has been an nounced by J. L. Young, commun ity reporter. The women will serve lunch at noon. It has also been announced that the Lord's Acre will be planted next Thursday.
