CHURCH GROUP HOLDS MEET Okays Selection Of Speaker For Lectures; Asks Push Of Tickets The Highlands inter-church group met in a supper meeting at the Highlands Baptist Church on Monday, July 11. The group was lead in a de votional by the Rev. R. T. Houts. pastor of the Highlands Methodist Church. The business session was presided over by the chairman, Davis A. Rhodes. A committee set up at the last meeting of the group to secure a speaker for a series of week-night lectures during the last part of the summer re ported it had several speakers in mind and the group voted for them to choose a suitable one. Tickets for the Transylvania Music Camp Orchestra Concert, which is to be presented in the ' Highlands School auditorium on ^ July 23, were presented to the ! ministers of the town and they | were urged to push their sale. ' Dr. Herbert Koepp-Baker was appointed as a chairman of a ' committee to work with Dr. C R. Bittle in the blood bank, which is to be in Highlands in the near future. The group was dismissed by the Rev. L. Eugene Walter, pas tor of the Highlands Baptist Church. The next meeting will be a supper meeting on September 19. Teams Split Games Here In a Fourth of July game | with the Franklin baseball ?am, Highlands came out on lop by a score of 4 to 1. James Potts was the leading litter for Highlands with two 'or four. Both teams received six hits. ' Richard Thompson pitched :or Highlands and Teague and j Sorbin pitched for Franklin. Houston was the catcher for highlands. In Sunday's game with the Anderson Y. M. C. A. team, . Highlands lost 12 to 5. Harry Holt was the loosing pitcher I and Ridley the winning pitcher. Gene Houston was catcher for Highlands and also the leading hitter with three far four. On Sunday, July 17, High lands will play a team from La France, S. C., in Highlands. The starting time for the game is 2:30. Reception Honors Rector And Family A reception was given on , Sunday (July 10) In the social hall of the Highlands Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, hon oring Dr. and Mrs. Herbert Koepp-Baker and family. Dr. Koepp-Baker is the new ly-elected rector of the church and also is on the faculty of Western Carolina College. Keyes To Preach At Church July 17 The Rev. Robert M. Hart, pas tor of the Highlands Presby terian Church, has announced that Kenneth S. Keyes, of Highlands and Miami, 'Fla., will deliver the morning message on July 17. Littleton To Hold Revival In Highlands The Highlands Baptist Church will open a revival on Sunday, July 17. 1 The visiting speaker for the services will be the Rev. B. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Strick land, of Atlanta, Ga., are spending the summer season at their home on Mirror Lake. Mr. and Mrs. A. L.
