G.H. BRENDLE PASSES HERE Swain Native Was 83; Farmed At Iotia; Rites Held Saturday George Henry Brendle, Swain County native and long-time resi dent of this county, died March 15 at Angel Hospital at the age of S3. He had )>een ill a short time. Funeral services for Mr. Bren dle, who farmed in the Iotla com munity, were conducted Saturday at XI a. m.. at the Iotla Baptist Church, of which he was a mem ber. Officiating were the Rev. Manuel Wyatt and the Rev. Frank Reed. Burial was in the church cemetery. Born January 11. 1873, Mr. Brendle was the son of William and Mrs. Jane Brendle. He came to this county in early manhood. Mr. Brendle was twice married. Greene Gets Appointment For Air Cadet Training first to Miss Lillie Downs, of the Iotla section, and then to Miss Pearl Alley, of RaDun Gap, Ga., who died in 1954. Surviving are a son by the first marriage. John Brendle, of Cullo whee, two by the second marriage. Robert, of ' Lewisville, and Carl Brendle, of Everett, Penn.; a daughter by the first marriage, Mrs. Dora Valentine, of Franklin, Route 4, and one by the second marriage, Mrs. Carroll Reynolds, of Tuckasiegee; and six grand children. Pallbearers were Louis, Elija, Johnny, and William Faulkner, William Fincher, and Dwight Po teet. Potts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Air Force Veteran, has received his appointment as an aviation cadet and reported Tuesday for assignment to the 3700th Military Training Wing at Lackland Air Force Base, Tex. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Mr. Greene Greene, of Franklin, Route 1. he is a veteran of three year s duty in the air force as a gunner on a B-29. He spent seven months on Okinawa and was credited with 27 missions over Korea during the war there. Discharged in 1953, Mr. Greene joined Eastern Air Lines in At lanta, Ga., as a ramp service man. Dr. and Mrs. G. B. Woodward have moved into their new home on Harrison Avenue. Mrs. Reid Bingham, of Frank lin, Route 1, is spending two weeks in DeLand, Fla? visiting her daughter, Mrs. J. R. Mason.
