Red Cross Drive Reports Needed "We need immediate reports." That's the word on the Amer ican Red Cross fund drive from Mrs. Elisabeth McColium, exe cutive secretary of the local chapter. With little more than a week left in the drive, she said only $350 of the county quota of $3, 730 has been reported by vol unteer workers over the county. If the county is to reach its quota by the end of the month, she said reports must come in immediately. Squadron's Role In Search Operation Will Be Discussed Franklin's role in next month's search and rescue op eration, being staged state-wide by Civil Air Patrol, will be dis cussed at a meeting of the local squadron tomorrow (Friday) night, according to Capt. A. C. Tysinger, commander. The meeting will be held at Franklin High at 7:30. Planes and personnel of the squadron here are set to assist in the operation, he said. To morrow's meeting will iron out details of the participation. Mr. Gnuse's Father Dies In Tennessee H H. Gnuse. Sr.. father of H. H. Gnuse. Jr., of Franklin, died March 13 at his home in Memphis, Tenn. A retired school principal, he was a frequent visitor here. Drive For Crippled Under Way; Lilies And Seals For Sale More than $60 has already been received by the local chap ter of the League for Crippled Children and Adults during the current drive according to E. J. Whitmire, chairman. Lilies will be sold on the streets of Franklin on Saturday and Easter seals will be mailed this week in order to increase the funds raised in this county. It has been estimated by local health and welfare department officials that .more than 150 children in Macon County need services of the type furnished by this organization, Mr. Whit mire said. Among the type of patients treated are those suffering from cerebral palsy, speech defects, major amputees, multiple scler osis, arthritis severe, and mus cular dystrophy. An orthepedic clinic is con ducted in Bryson City and the services of a nationally known specialist have been obtained through funds raised by the Crippled Children's League. Fifty-five per cent of the funds raised are retained by the local chapter. This organization is sponsor ed locally by the Franklin Ro tary Club.
