Miss Audrey Be mice Conley, of Raleigh and Franklin, to Donald Irving Massey, of Ral eigh and Zetoulon, son of ' Mrs. Lie ray L. Massey, of Zebulon, and the late Mr. Massey. SPENCE LEDFORD Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Frances Henderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson, of Knox ville, Term.. to S/Sgt. Spence Led ford. of Biggs Air Force Base. EI Paso, Tex., son of Mr. and Mis. Ira Ledford, of Franklin. The weddina took place in Wal halla, S. C., on Marsh 8. The bride wore a light blue suit with a corsage of pink cornations. She attended school in Knoxville and has been employed at the Union Knitting Mill there. The groom attended Franklin High School and Is now in the U. S. Air Force, stationed at Biggs Air Force Base. The bride plans to live with the groom's parents until S/Sgt. Led ford receives his discharge in No vember. Mr. and Mrs. James McCall, sis ter and brother-in-law of the groom, attended the wedding. Press Society Editor Attends Institute Of State Press Women Mrs. Allen Siler, society editor of The Press, attended the annual spring institute of the North Car olina Press Women, at Chapel Hill i over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. James Colbert, of Cass City, Mich., have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Sally Lou Colbert of East Lansing, Mich., to Bui ford P. Pouts, Jr., son of S4ny' and Mrs. Buford P. Fouts. Sr.. of Denver, Colo., formerly of Franklin, Route 3. The wedding is planned for March 31. Mrs. Tippett Fetes Women For Birthdays Mrs. John Tippett entertained at her home in the Watauga community Sunday, honoring her mother, Mrs. Eva Morgan, and Mrs. Eva Dillard, Mrs. Minnie Clouse, Mrs. Cora Rankin. Stockton Wes Perry, of Kinston, is spend- j ing a few weeks here with his I WORKMEN ARE revamping the old swimming pool at the Franklin Lodge and Golf Course in preparation for its new opening about May 1. The lodge owners, Frank B. Duncan and T. W. Angel, Jr., plan to spend an estimated $20,000 on the pool and surrounding grounds. One of the largest in the area (300,000 gallons), the pool is being cut in half to reduce water consumption. The presentation was made in Hamlet at the first county-widc awards court ever held there. Gwen attended Otto School here last year and is an eighth grader this year. Holy Week Rites At Snow Hill Holy Week services at the Snow Hill Methodist Church, in the Cowee community, were announ ced yesterday by the i pastor, the Rev. R. J. Hahn. Services are planned for 7:30 o'clock each evening next week. Monday through Easter Sundav. The pastor will preach a series of sermons on the Apostles' Creed, there will be children's stories on the Crucifixion anri the Resurrec tion. and an Easter mural will be shown. The public is invited. Mr. Hahn said. Women Will Attend District Meeting In Bryson City A number of women from here plan to attend a district meeting of the Women's Service Guilds and the Women's Society of Chris tian Service tonight 'Thursday > at the Bryson City Methodist Church.
