Swann Now In Germany With Unit Pfc. James B. Swann, 26. son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray C. Swann. of Franklin, Route 2, is a mem ber o( the 2nd Armored Division in Germany, according to an an nouncement made this week by the Army Home Town News Cen ter. Now undergoing rigorous train ing as part of the U. S. Seventh Army, the 2nd Armored is main taining the peak efficiency in thrust and mobility that earned its reputation of "Hell on Wheels" in World War n. Pfc. Swann arrived in Europe in April, 1955, and is currently assigned to Service Battery of the division's 78th Field Artillery Battalion. He entered the army in 1948. His wife. Willie, is with him in Germany. Mt. Zion Members Meet To Make Plans A call meeting was held Sunday ? afternoon, for the members of the Mt. Baptist Revivals Start; Rally Scheduled Today Rural church enlargement re vivals of the Baptist Churches In Macon County began Sunday. At a meeting at the First Church Monday, workers reported that the census was practically com plete in all the churches. Plans for the workshop study for church improvement and plans for promotion and growth will be a part of the revival service. Services will continue at 7:30 through Friday of this week at all Baptist churches cooperating in the campaign. An associational rally meeting will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p. m. at the Mount Hope Bap tist Church. The church with the largest group present will get a write-up and picture in the Biblio al Recorder, the Baptist state paper. The public Is invited. The Rev. Frank Robinson, of Asheville, is director of the cam paign. Local Women Going To Girl Scout Meet Mrs. Carl Cabe has announced the Nantahala Area Girl Scout Board will meet at Nantahala Inn at 7 o'clock Monday evening, May 14. Those from Franklin who ex pect to attend are Mrs. Cabe, Mrs. Ernest Hyde, Mrs. Qilmer A. Jones, and Mrs. C. Banks Finger. Records show that Franklin had a private school as early as 1840, 15 years before its incorporation as a town. Otto School Has Program On May Day Otto School held Its annual "May Day" program Friday after noon with all grades participating. Carmen Roberson was crowned "May Queen."
