Under this amendment, a hus band required to be away from home or where he might be un available to execute a deed for various reasons, could give to his wife a written Instrument author izing her to sign and acknowledge deeds for him. He would be able to authorize his wife to sign his name not only to deeds of land belonging to her, but also to land owned by them jointly, or by the husband alone. Ellis P. Soper has just returned from Caracas, Venezuela, and Bogota, Columbia, to spend a week with his family here. School Projects Should Begin Within 3 Weeks Construction on three school projects should begin inside of three weeks, according to Supt. Holland McSwain. Bids totaling $51,210 have been accepted by the board of education for two classrooms at Cullasaja School and vocational shops at Nantahala and High lands. Bids were opened last Thursday. Low bidders and their bids were: General construction ? W. B. Dillard, of Sylva, $41,890. Heating ? E. L Erwin, of Sylva, $5,100. Electrical ? James P. Wurst, of Franklin, $4,220. All submitted consolidated bids, the superintendent said. Since state money will be used in construction, the bids must be approved by the state board of education, he explain ed. Set for September 28-29 at Franklin High School, the fair Is open to anyone in the coun ty wanting to exhibit anything from apples to yams and beef and dairy animals. Details of the two-day event will be completed tomorrow (Friday) morning at 9 o'clock at the Agricultural Building when members of the fair com-, mittee and agricultural council meet to arrange booth space and attend to other details. The fair catalogue will be off the presses next week and ready for distribution. Officers of the fair associa tion include Robert C. Parker, chairman, C. C. Sutton, vice chairman, Mrs Lawrence Pat ton, secretary, and Edwin T. Williams, treasurer.
