I IOTLA PLANS FOR CONTEST Projects Picked At Meeting; Yule Committee Named Planning for the '57 contest year featured Monday * night's meeting of the lotla Rural Com munity Development Organization at the lotla School. Completion of the picnic area, construction of fireplaces and pic nic shelters, landscaping the en trance to the school, and seed ing the school playground were among projects selected by the group. The youth club was organized with Mrs. Kate Gibson and Bill Bryan as sponsors. Plans also were made to enter a float in the Christmas parade this month. A committee was appointed to erect the Christmas scene for the community. It is composed of Mrs. Jack Cansler, Mrs. Bayse Penland, Mrs. Ed Bradley, Paul Swafford, Claude Roper, and Bill Ramsey. James Roper presided at the meeting and the devotional was given by Miss Nora Moody. ANSWER FIRE CALL An oil furnace fire in the heat ing room of the Burrell building brought out the fire department last Thursday morning in Frank lin. Damage was light. A., It has been announced. It Is set to begin at 7:30 and the Tesenta Church of God will give the devotional. Mrs. Carpenter Heads Franklin H. D. Group Officers for '57 have been elect ed by the Franklin Home Demon stration Club. They include Mrs. E. J. Carpen ter, Sr., president; Mr3. E. C. Harmon, vice-president: Mrs. Ed Conley, secretary-treasurer; and Mrs. Woodrow Baker, assistant secretary-treasurer. They wlil take office in January. A workshop for making copper items will feature the club's December meeting. Outdoor Theatre's New Building Now In Operation Here Franklin Drive-In Theatre's new indoor theatre building is now in operation. Preston Henn, manager, said its completion is another step in the theatre's expansion program, which will represent an ultimate investment of about $20,000. He said the building, which seats 100, cost about $10,000. It if the only one in W. N. C.. ac cording to Mr. Henn. The activities of the theatre are now centered in the new bu'ld ing, including the ticket booth, lefreshment stand, and projection room. The theatre room itself is 40 by 36 and is heated. Just recently Mr. Hc-nn widen ed the theatre screen. Revival To Begin Sunday At Tesenta A revival series will open Sun day night at the Tesenta Church of God. Services wll be held nightly be ginning at 8 o'clock. Preaching will be the Rev. Prank Rochester, of Walhalla, S. C., and the pastor, the Rev. E. P. Davenport.
