Saturday Afternoon ? Miss Hays Weds Robert M Wright First Baptist Church was the scene Saturday afternoon of the marriage of Miss Elinor Ann Hays, (laughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Arthur Hays, of Franklin, to Rob ere Matthewson Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hall Wright, of Aberdeen. Officiating at the double-ring ceremony was the Rev. M. W. Chapman, pastor. Mrs. Thomas Collins and Miss Audrey Hays, sister of the bride, presented a program of wedding music. Olven in marriage by her fath er, the bride wore a gown of white brocaded satin, designed and handmade by her mother. It was fashioned with low round neckline, fitted bodice, and full waits-length skirt. Her veil of tulle was attach ed to a headdress of brocaded sat in and tulle and she carried a white Bible* topped with a white orchid and satin streamers. Maid of honor was Miss Patricia Hays, sister of the bride. She wore a dress of rose taffeta, fash ioned like the bride's, and her head-dress was of rose taffeta and tulle. She carried a nosegay of deep rose carnations tied with satin streamers. T/Sgt. George B. Wright, who Is stationed in New Jersey, broth er of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Arthur Hays, brother of the bride, and Ben Ed wards, cousin of the bride, both of Franklin. The parents of the bride enter tained with a reception In the so cial hall of the .church following the ceremony. Assisting in serv ing were Mrs. William Garrison, Mrs. Grady Corbin. Miss Julia Moody, Miss Norma Jean Welch, Miss Audrey Hays, and Miss Pattl Lou Phillips. After the reception, the couple left on a short wedding trip. For traveling, the bride chose a gray ?wool dress with which she wore rose and black accessories and her bridal bouquet detached from her Bible. Mrs. Wright is a student at Western Carolina College. Mr. Wright is a graduate of Aberdeen High School. He has spent the past three and a half years In service and Is now sta tioned at Eureka, Calif. He is a radioman, second class. Mrs. Wright will join her hus band in California after she is graduated from W. C. C. in June. Miss Patti Lou Phillips enter tained with a trousseau shower for Miss Hays last Thursday even ing at the Phillips home on West Main Street. Christmas decorations were used in the living and dining rooms. The dining table was covered with a lace cloth, centered with an arrangement of Nantahala pine and holly and lighted candles. Mrs. Roy M. Biddle, Jr., sister of the hostess, poured coffee. Sixteen were included on the guest list. Library Gets 78 New Books The Franklin Public Library put 78 new books on its shelves last week, with titles to Interest a va riety of readers. Among the children's books are "Little Pear and the Rabbit", "The Horse of Hurricane Hill", "Sto way to the Mushroom Planet", and "Cabin Boy". Mrs. Prank I. Murray, librarian, said a new volume has been con tributed to the library, in memory of Mrs. George A. Jones. It is "All of the Women of the Bible", by Edith Deen, and was donated by Mr. and Mrs. William Costello, of Murphy.
