4th Birthday Party
Mrs. Glenn Wright honored her
daughter, Dianne. with a party
at their home on Wayah Street,
on the occasion of Dianne 's fourth
birthday, last Saturday.
Games were played and birth
day cake and Ice cream were
.served.
Guests included Jackie Balrd,
Brenda Dowdle, Gail Elliott, Linda
Holden, Billy Mashburn, Cathy
Powell, Gwen Yeary, and Bruce

MISS GILBERT
IN CALIFORNIA
Lewis Ledford, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Marlon Ledford, of Franklin,
Route 2, and Miss Dolores Ann
Gilbert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Emmett Gilbert, of San Leandro,
Calif., were married December 27
at 8 p. m , at the Pull Gospel
Tabernacle in San Leandro.
A reception followed at the
church.
The couple spent their honey
moon at the home of the groom's
brother, Wilson Ledford, in Azusa,
Calif.
The groom is with the U. S.
Navy, stationed near Oakland,
Calif., where the couple will make
their home.

IS ENGAGED
TO M. L. WILSON
Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Sweatman,
of Franklin, Route 1, have an
nounced the engagement of their
granddaughter, Miss Jessie Faye
Sweatman, to Monroe Lester Wil
son. son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Wilson, of 8ylva. Route 2.
Miss Sweatman is a graduate
of Franklin High School and is
now employed at the Franklin
Hosiery Company. Mr. Wilson, a
World War n veteran, is a gradu
ate of Webster High School and
is employed at Mica Development
Corporation in Franklin.
An April wedding is planned.
Weaieyan Guild Will
Hold Meeting Tonight
The Mary Johnston Allman
Wesleyan Service Guild will meet
tonight (Thursday) at 7:30 at
the Franklin Methodist Church.
Hostesses are Mrs. James Mc
Collum, Miss Ruth McCollum, and
Miss Elizabeth Meadows.
Third Gulf Station,
Under Jacobs'
Management, Opens
Franklin's third Gulf station
went into operation this week,
under the managership of Rad
ford Jacobs.
Mr. Jacobs has been in the
service station business for seven
years and has worked at various
stations In Franklin. The station,
located in East Franklin, will be
called. Jacobs Oulf Service.
The station operated by Mr.
Jacobs is owned by the Oulf Oil
Company, while the other East
Franklin Oulf station is privately
owned. The Franklin Service Sta
tion, the town's third Oulf outlet,
also is privately owned.
