George Rufus J Talley. 71-year-old native and farmer of the Clear Creek com munlty, died Friday about I p. m 1 at Highlands Community Hospital. He had been in declining health ' for a year and had been in the : hospital for 24 hours. I Well-known as a church leader 1 in his township. Mr. Talley was 1 a frequent speaker at church events and he often filled pulpits 1 at churches in the area. Although ' he had no formal education, he was recognized as a "Bible schol < ar . He was a member of the Clear Creek Baptist Church for 46 years and served for 22 years as superintendent of the Sunday school. . Funeral services were held Sun day at 2 p. m. at his home by the Rev. Wiley McCall, assisted by the Rev. Eldon Owens. He was 72 While living in Macon County I Mr. Simmons owned the old Char lie Ingram place (now owned by | Lawrence Potts) , on Cat Creek Road in Holly Springs commun ity. and operated a stock farm. He moved from here to Florida Funeral services and burial were held Saturday in Miami. Surviving are his wife. Mrs Allie C. Simmons; three sons Lawrence, Jr.. and M. Mrs. McGlamery To Be Installed As President Mrs. B. L. McGlamery will be ns tailed as president of the Franklin Garden Club Monday with othwr new officers.
