HALL Phone 397 Mailbox Repainting Job Is Planned By Cullasaja By MISS MARIE JENNINGS (Community Reporter) Plana were made at the June 4 meeting of the Cullasaja Rural Community Development Organi zation to repaint the mailbox posts in the community. It was suggested that each family be responsible for its own post. Pat Cable, a rural mail carrier, offered some suggestions about the proper heights of the posts to comply with requirements and to make delivery of mail easier on the carrier. New Mower The Cullasaja School has a new power mower and a public address system was recently installed. The men of the community dug a new garbage pit at the picnic area on June 6. Discuss Health The group discussed health im provements in the community and hopes to make this a major pro ject for this year. Members were urged to think of ways to improve health conditions in the commun ity. It was agreed that the commun ity would help clean the Assem bly of God camp grounds in preparation for the summer camp meeting revival. New Local Talent Variety Program Getting Attention A new variety show is beginning to attract interest locally. Composed of all local talent, it is called "Main Street Jamboree" and is staged every Friday night at 8 o'clock at thq county court house. Featured on the barn dance program are Mrs. Harry Higgins. organist, the Franklin Sweet hearts, a vocal group composed of Misses Myrtis Cabe, Clolean Clouse, and Sue Bailey, the Wal droops (Les, Wendell, and Lloyd). Ann Holden, and Carrol Mosteller. The first show was held May 31. There is no admission charge. News About People Misses Beverly Stockton and Jane Zickgraf have arrived from Brenau College In Gainesville, Ga.. to spend the summer vacation at home. Mrs. Grace O'Mohundro and Mrs. J. E. Perry, Sr.. left last Wednesday for Knoxvllle, Tenn., to board a plane for Portland, Ore. They will visit Mrs. O'Mo hundno's sis tar and brother-in law. Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Miss Julia Moody, of Franklin. | received a special award at the Western Carolina College com mencement June 3 for her out standing contributions to student life. She was one of two named "Best College Citizen" and received a plaque. It was the second year she has been so honored. Ed wards, cabinetmaker and operator of Edwards-Dillard Hardware Company here, has been named superintendent of buildings at Clemson College in South Caro lina. A 1937 Clemson graduate in | architecture, he assumed his duties the first of the month. Mr. Edwards succeeds William E. McGuire, who is building a home here and plans to go into semi-retirement, remaining active as a building consultant. Mr. Edwards has a son who will enter Clemson this fall.
