Seated in her living room recently. Mb Weimar Jones picked up the morning paper. The first thine she saw was a front pace picture of a bird that had been fatally injured in flying through a window pane. As she started to read the type under the picture, she heard behind her a rhythmic tapping. "A woodpecker on the front porch", she thought; then, "no, it must be in this room." Before she could turn her head, the bird lit on the news paper she was holding, right on the bird picture. Startled, Mrs. Jones jumped a bit, and the bird flew into the kitchen. It was not a woodpecker, but a wren, and a very well behav ed wren, at that. Because, after it finally had flown out the way it had come in, through the slightly adjar front door, she had proof of the bird's appre ciation of modem plumbing: The only dropping It had left was in the kitchen sink.
