Covering The Teen Scene With Gene Dawdle There doesn't seem to be very much response to the Hot Rod Club that was mentioned in this column last week. If the boys of Franklin want to have a club they are going to have to get out and see if they can't find some garage or some other organization to sponsor it. Boys, why don't you try to get a motor company to sponsor it? This would be more practical than a garage since they would have more equipment and trained mechanics with which to work. Another thing that would be nice to have if the Hot Rod Club is formed, would be a pin to wear in the lapel of a coat, or maybe even a belt buckle with the name of the club inscribed on it. While on the subject of cars, the car craze has turned to "big", or Mercury, fender skirts and the two aerials that go on either fend er of the back. Most of the boys have been talking about re-up holstering their cars with leath erette. It is very hard to try to keep up with feminine fashions these days, when one isn't going to let the other out do them, so the girls have taken a likenin' to cultured pearls. They wear cultured rings, bracelets, necklaces, ear rings, and so many others it would be next to impossible to name them all. But now take a boy. Well, they are easily pleased and don't realiy care just as long as they keep warm. And besides, who has money to buy a new something every week. They have to keep the car cleaned up and save a little (or the Saturday night date! This top 10 tunes business Is just like a race to see who can get there first.
