Those familiar red hearts ? plas tic collection containers ? will be distributed this week in stores over the county, according to the chairman. About 200 will be In use. "Heart Sunday" is set for Feb ruary 23 and at that time volun teers will conduct door-to-door so licitations. The campaign will last the en tire month. "In accepting this appointment. I have the fullest confidence that Macon County will surpass the amount it contributed last year. This conviction stems from the fact that, through the years, we have learned that only medical research can solve the heart dis ease problem and that a contribu tion to the Heart Fund to support such research is, therefore, not just a gift but an investment in our own health and the health of those we love," Mr. Biddle said this week. Heart diseases accounted for approximately 54 per cent of all deaths from all causes in the United States in 1956, the latest year for which figures are now available, the chairman revealed.
