Maloff, Former Local Merchant, Dies In Swain Solomon Maloff, who operated a store in Franklin at one time, died February 15 at his home in Bryson City, following a long ill ness. Born in Beirut. Lebanon, he came to the United States when he was 19. He first sold house wares house-to-house in Atlanta. Ga? and he later entered the mer cantile business there. Later he came to Franklin, where he and Joe Ashear operated a store. "Ashear and Maloff", in 1911. From Franklin, Mr. Maloff went to Hellen. Ga.. and later to Bryson City, where he became a well-known businessman. At the time of his death, he was serving as a town alderman. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Maloff. a daughter. Mrs. JUmelia Bryson, of Bryson City, two step-sons, James T. Golusha, of West Palm Beach. Fla., and Arthur Golusha. of Atlanta, a brother. Charles, of Hellen, a sis ter, Miss Seydeh Maloff. of Beirut, and a , granddaughter. NAVY HONORMAN Airman Apprentice J. H. Hus cusson, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C.
