Maconians Take In 'Speed Week' "Speed Week" In Daytona Beach. Fla. attracted a large number of Maconians. Among those going down (or the racing event were Howard Stewart, Preston Henn. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde San ders, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Conley, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Henson, Carl Green, and Jack Cribble. Mrs. Marge Langfitt In Charlotte Hospital Mrs. Marge Langfitt, wife of the Rev. Donn Langfitt, pastor of the Franklin Presbyterian Church, was scheduled to undergo surgery for a kidney ailment in a Char lotte hospital yesterday (Wednes day). She had been hospitalized here for some time. The Langfltts and their two children drove to Charlotte last week. Dr. Hilton Scales, of Sylva. preached in Mr. Langfitt's ab sence Sunday morning. Mr. Langfitt is expected back the latter part of the week. The real thrill of the finals was provided by the Swain and Cullo whee boys, who matched points toe-to-toe right through one over time period. Spectators, limp from screaming and yelling, nearly went wild when Swain High's j rangy Phil Britnall tipped in a jump shot from the foul circle with two seconds left on the clock.
