Smoky Mountain Cloggers See City Miss Waldroop, Macon Native, Dies At Clinic Miss Leola Waldroop, a native of this county, died at 4 p. m. March 5 at Angel Clinic. Seventy four years old. she had been in declining health ror some time. Funeral services were conducted the following afternoon at the Car son Chapel Methodist Church, of which she was a member. Officiat ing was the Rev. S. B. Moss. Born Aug. 14, 1883, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Mrs. Polly Tritt Waldroop. Miss Wal droop lived in the Ridgecrest | community (Route 4). j Surviving is a brother, Henry E. i Waldroop, of Franklin, Route 1, ; and several nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers were Karl Cabe, Jess Shope, Edd Wal lace, Robert Vinson, Ted Gillespie, and William R. Pressley. Bryant Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. The following day, with The Press' New York correspondent and photographer they toured the city and took in many of the points of interest. In the group picture above, they're on the top of the then fog-bound Empire State Building. They also got to see the Statue of Liberty, from a ferry, visited Radio City, and had lunch at Sardi'a. The girls from Mount Hope were vic torious, and the boys of Iotla won. School News ? If you want to have a gay time on Saturday night, March 22, you Just plan to be at Cartoogechaye School. Will tell you more about this next week, but be sure to save that date for fun with your family. The regular March meeting of P.-T. A. will be held at the school on Tues day night, March 18, at 7:30. All grade mothers of the first, second, arid third grades are asked to be at the school by 7 for an Impor tant meeting. Six members of the Cartooge chaye P.-T. A. attended the study course at Otto on Tuesday of last week. Community News ? The Car toogechaye Community 4-H Club met at the community building Saturday night, March 8. Presi dent Robert Enloe presided and there were 10 members present. During the meeting plans were discussed for a float to be entered in the 4-H parade; Charlie Enloe gave a report on the happenings at 4-H "Achievement Day"; aftd the president appointed Jimmy Nolen chairman of the recreation committee. The home demonstration club will meet at the home of Mrs. R. D. Fannon on Wednesday, March 19. This will be an all-day affair and all members are asked to bring a covered dish and be at Mrs. Fannon's at 10 a. m. This and That ? Mr. and Mrs. Ororer Schafer have recently r^ turned home from a Caribbean cruise. Immediately after their re turn to Way ah Valley, they had as guests Mrs. Schafer's brother, Harold Dale and his wife, from Sioux Pall, 8. D. Chief Warrant Officer E. C. Mon&gh&n, Mrs. Monaghan, and their four children are guests of the John Ounn's. However, the Monaghans will soon be at home on White Oak Street In Frankita. They are moving here from Nor folk, va. Mr. and Mrs. John Qunn are Just back from a vacation in Flor ida. They spent four weeks visit ing friends and relatives around Jacksonville. Mrs. Charles Ray, daughter of Sr. and Mrs. Charles Waldroop. underwent surgery this week at Memorial Mission Hospital in Ashevllle.
