The grade mothers of the first, second, and third grades are sponsoring a "Spring Festival" Saturday night, March 26, at the school. The evening of fun will begin at 7:30, and you are promised good entertainment for all the family. There will be a show of latest fashions in ladles' clothing, model ed by the men and boys of the community. There will be square dancing by a group of 4-H'ers. Then you will have the opportun ity of buying good home-made cakes, pies, and cookies, cake walking, buying tickets on a coffee maker, and just plenty of other activity for a good time. All pro ceeds will go toward buying some much-needed equipment for the lassrooms of the primary grades. COMMUNITY NEWS ? Car toogechaye Community Develop ment meeting is set at the com munity building Thursday night, March 20. at 7:30. Mrs. Mabel Swan, assistant home demonstra tion agent, and John J. Wrinn, assistant county agent, will lead in a discussion of community de velopment and needs. Later in the evening, Mrs. Joe Setser, presi dent, will show the group some slides on life in Antarctica.. These pictures were sent to her recent ly by her brother. Dr. Dick Slagle, who is with a group of United States forces now stationed in the Antarctic. THIS AND THAT? The Rev. A. Rufus Morgan is spending most of this week in Columbia, S. C., visiting friends. Mrs. Fred Slagle recently re turned irom a three-week vaca tion. She spent one week in At lanta. where she visited her daugh ter, Miss Mary Slagle. and her son, Frederick Slagle, and his family. Then she went to Sanlord, Fla., (or two weeks to be witii Fred Slagle, and to visit other relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Slagle and family, and Miss Mary Slagle. of Atlanta, spent the past week end in Cartoogechaye community visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Slagle and Mrs. and Mrs. Cecil Craw ford. Mrs. Earl Harrison and Jeso Shope were called to Norfolk, Va.. last week to be with their mother, Mrs. Zeb Shope. who is seriously ill. Another daughter, Mrs. Swafford, fifth grade teach er at Cartoogechaye School, is spending this week In Norfolk with Mrs. Shope. , Mrs. Rex Andrus and Mrs. Ju lian Maddox attended a music work shop at Western Carolina College last week.
