Official Makes Official Visit Here Mrs. Gertrude Lowe, of Hender sonville, 17th District VP.W. Aux iliary president, made an official visit to the local auxiliary Friday night. She was accompanied by Mrs. Bernice Sentenel, of Canton. Prior to the meeting a spaghetti supper was served by members. Mrs. Lowe spoke on several phases of auxiliary work, stressing membership and cancer research. She told of some of the activities of volunteers at Oteen Hospital, such as planning entertainment, visiting in the wards, writing let ters for patients, and doing per sonal shopping and banking. She said too, that were it not for aux iliaries such as the Franklin group, who sponsor these programs, as well as provide volunteer workers, these activities would not be avail able for the patients. She has attended several meet ings of the Civil Defense group and urged all members to take part in the local program. Mrs. Lowe also commended the Franklin auxiliary for its work in the cancer field and also The Franklin Press for cooperation in the publicity given this project through the year. Welch were named as a committee to decide which' troop the auxiliary will sponsor. Mrs. Anne Murray presided at the meeting, which also was fea tured by the election of new of ficers. They will be Installed next week. . Mr*. Brookshire's Father Dies Ztnd In Georgia Hospital W. E. Palmer, 83, of Habersham, Ga.. father of Mrs. J. H. Brook shire, of the Cartoogechaye com munity, died March 22 in a Dem orest, Ga., hospital. 4 He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Bryikshire, Mrs. L. R. Frye, of Turnersville, Ga., and Mrs. C. L. Cleveland, of Dem orest, Ga.; four sons, Oscar, Des ter, and the Rev. Lester Palmer, of Demorest, and Odis Palmer, of Chicago. 111.; 33 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Services were held March 23 at the Mt. Alfred Straton Law rence. 76. an Episcopal minister who served In Highlands and Cashiers at one time, died March 28 In Chapel Hill, where he had been active In the affairs of the Episcopal Chapel of the Cross for 37 years. He had served as rector of the Chapel Hill church from 1921 to 1943. and as rector emeritus since 1943. Born in Essex, England, he was graduated from Columbia Univer sity with a master's degree in 1906. He received his bachelor of divinity degree from the general theological seminary. A chaplain during World War II, Mr. Law rence also served parishes in Con cord, Lenoir, and Hlllsboro. He Is survived by his wife, the former Miss Elsie Millicent Perk ins, whom he married in 1909, and two sons and three daughters. Trusty Child, 5, Dies At Grandfather's Charles Burn Trusty, 5, died Tuesday morning, April 1, at the home of his grandfather, Gordon Taylor, in the Iotla community. The child had been ill for five weeks. Funeral services weer held yesterday (Wednesday) morning at the Iotla Methodist Church, by the Rev. Paul Heafner. Burial was In Wiley, Ga. Charles was the son of Clyde Trusty and Mrs. Betty Jean Trusty Williams, of Kokomo. Ind. He had been living with his grandfather for the past year. In addition to his mother and grandfather, surviving are three sisters. Annette, of Iotla commun ity, and Jane and Sue, of Kokomo, Ind. Bryant Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Miss Enloe, 90, Dies In Georgia Miss Lula M. Enloe, 90, a form er resident of the Cartoogechaye community, died last Thursday in an Atlanta, Oa? hospital following an Illness of several motnhs. Services were held Saturday morning at the Spring Hill Church and burial was in the Westview Cemetery. Surviving are two sisters. Miss Ida Enloe and Miss Cora Nan Enloe, of Atlanta; a brother, Charlie, of Cornelia, Oa.; and sev eral nieces and nephews.
