Bits And Briefs From Cullasaja And Higdonville Mia Mule Jennings Staff Correspondent Church Newt A vacation Bible school Is being held this week at Hlgdonville Bap tist Church. Hours are 9 to 13 noon each day. The Rev. Paul Sorrells is principal. Revival services are still In pro gress at the Cullasaja Assembly of God Church, with the pastor, the Rev. Conrad Barrett, doing the preaching. Song services be gin at 7:49 pin. The public Is in vited. 4-H Club Meets Miss Patricia Bryson, 4-H re porter, reports the Cullasaja 4-H Club met Tuesday of last week at the Cullasaja Assembly of Ood parsonage. They raked the yard, sowed grass, and planted flowers. The community's project of build ing a road into the parsonage and gravelling It has Just recently been completed. last Thursday the 4-H group, with its leader. Mrs. Vernon Bry son, met at the 4-H grounds at the intersection of Sugarfork Church Road and US 64 and mowed and raked the plot. Mrs. Bryson serv ed soft drinks and cookies. H. D. New* Mrs. H. T. Horsley entertained the Cullasaja Home Demonstra tion Club last Friday afternoon. There yere 10 present. Mrs. Flor ence Sherrlll was in charge of the discussion on the f reeling of foods. Refreshments were served. The Hlgdonville club will meet June 19 at 1:30 pjn. at the home of Mrs. Ted Higdon. Members are urged to attend. BUI Raby Speaks Cooperation and our duty to our community were stressed by Bill Raby, president of the Macon Community Development Council when he spoke to the Hlgdonville organization last Thursday night. A large group attended and a covered dish supper was served. It was reported that the com munity's Lord's Acre project has done well. They raised a hay crop of orchard grass and clover, which has been cut and baled. This hay Is now available for sale. Anyone interested In buying should con tact Pred Corbln. community presi dent. or W. W (Dude) Berry. The hay is stored at Mr. Berry's farm. Fred Corbin gave: the land for the project. The proceeds will be given to the Hlgdonvllle Baptist Church. The 4-H Club will give next month's program, which will be at the picnic area again. Cullaaaja Meets Although only 19 were present at the meeting of Cullasaja com munity organization June 3, sev eral Important plans were made and accomplishments reported The attendance was down because of the revival meeting at the As sembly of Ood Church. June 6 and 7 were set for the men to do some mowing at the Sugarfork Cemetery. Pat Cable re ported that he had contacted Howard Stewart and Mr. Stewart will do the proposed grading on the church grounds this week. It was reported that a new register book has been placed at the picnic area. Charlie Holland reported that he had repaired the water fountain. Pritchard Russell, Pat Cable. John Bryson, David Hughes, and Charlie Holland vol unteered to do the cleanup work at the picnic area this month The group voted to paint the Salem Methodist Church June 14 Home improvements reported were: Mr. and Mrs Elmer MoCall a new bedroom suite: Mr. and Mrs. John Bryson. home freezer: Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Sondhelmer home freezer: Mr. and Mrs. De wltt Thompson, home freezer: T. T Henderson, a new tractor; Mrs. Fred Rogers. Mrs. Kenneth Rogers and Mrs. Fred Bryson. Jr.. new electric sewing machines: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Moses have done some remodeling work and are putting tile on their floors: Fred Rogers, has built a new brooder house with a capacity for 1 .700; Fred Bryson. Jr.. has put a new roof on his chicken house: and Bobby Sondhelmer has bought an auto matic plant setter. Plans were made for a rummage sale in July and a "white ele phant" sale and tacky party in August. Monday night. June 30. was set for a community picnic at the picnic area. Everyone is urged to attend and bring a basket of food Pat Cable was in charge of the devotional and Mrs. John Bryson dismissed the group with prayer. Pat Cable's name was drawn for the door prize. Keener, of Chicago, visited Mrs. Eva Keener and Miss Lois Keener last Thurs day enroute to Demorest. Ga , to attend the reunion of the gradu ates of Piedmont College. Mr. Keener is Mr3. Eva Keener's bro ther-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Earley and children, of Waynesville. visited his parents. Mr. and Mrs. John Earley. over the week-end. Mr. Barley's grandfather. Will Earley. accompanied them home to Way nesville for a visit. Kenneth Corbin, of Washington. D. C.. and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Corbin, of Mars Hill, were here this week end to attend the wed ding of their brother. Bobby Joe Corbin. to Miss Josephine Dalton. Furman Corbin, Jr., of Asheville, and Dr. Furman Corbin, of Bry son City, also came for the wed ding. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ruppenthal are spending a month at their home on the Battle Branch Road. Mrs. Harry Moses and her daughter, Carolyn, visited Mrs. Moses' mother at Yellow Moun tain from Thursday until Sunday last week. Lem Crisp, who is serving with the U.S. Navy, is spending a leave at home. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Saunders, Of Aiken. S. C? spent the week end with Mrs. Saunders', parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Moses.
