Miss Elsie Hayes was elected treasurer of the club. Mrs. Donald E. Whelan. vice president and program chairman, announced that the theme for study this year would be the Romantic composers. She also dis tributed the new year books. The following program was given: Short papers \)n the works of the three composers were read by Mis. Whelan: Mrs. Gilmer A. Jones played a piano solo. "Chor us and Ballet", from the opera, "Preciosa '. by Von Weber: Mrs. Allen Siler read a short paper on the opera. "Der Freischutz". by Von Weber, after which Mrs Jones played the theme from Act II of the opera, and then a recording of the opera's overture was played: Mrs. Julian Maddox sang Meyebeer's. "The Fisher maiden". accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Cooper: and the closing number was a piano solo, a waltz by Brahms, played by Mrs. Weimar Jones. Visiting 'Parson* At Snow Hill. Church j. The Rev.
