Bits And Briefs From Cullasaja And Higdonville MJm Marie Jenninfa Staff Correspondent , Turkey Dinner School will close Friday for the Christmas holidays. Thursday. Cullasaja School will have its Christmas dinner. On the menu are turkey and dressing, cran berry sauce, rice and gravy, and stick candy. Library Geta Table The school's central library has a new. large table for reading and study. After the new supple mentary books were distributed, an order was sent in for new books for the central library. These are expected to arrive after Christmas. Included In this order Is a set of the World Book Encyclopedia. Yuletide Plans Students will meet in the school adultorium Friday for their Christ mas party. Weaver Shope, prin cipal, says individual rooms will not put up a tree, but that one large tree will be decorated In the auditorium and each class will nut its uiftc nnHor the troo in boxes. Later the boxes will be carried to the separate classrooms for distribution. Students have fixed some timely Christmas scenes. 4-H Play Cullasaja School's Senior 4-H Club gave its Christmas play In the school auditorium Tuesday morning. Basketball News In a recent game with Iotla. Cullasaja boys won by a score at 27 to 13, while Cullasaja girls lost to Iotla girls, 13 to 7. Last Tuesday, Cullasaja School played East Franklin School. The Culla saja boys were winners again, but the Cullasaja girls lost. Missionary Meeting The Women's Missionary Coun cil of the Cullasaja Assembly of God Church will have an all-day meeting today (Thursday) at the home of Mrs. John Bryson. A covered dish luncheon will be end. This evening of fellowship and work also Included a "com popping" and proved very enjoy able. Community News Saturday, December 6, men of Cullasaja community cut wood for Mr. and Mrs. Amos Wood. Last Saturday they got together again and cut wood for Mrs. Leona Sadler. Friday night a group net at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pritch ard Russell and prepared Christ mas baskets for the community's shut-ins. These tokens of cheer were distributed over the week end. This vening of fellowship and work also Included a "corn pop ping" and proved very enjoyable. H. D. Will Meet Don't forget, women of the Higdonvllle Home Demonstration Club meet today (Thursday) for an all-day Christmas meeting at the home of Mrs. Sammy Bryson. Please attend. At The Churches Despite the snow and bad road conditions, the Rev. Paul Sorrells, pastor, was at Higdonvllle Sun day morning for Sunday school and morning worship and also oelivered a sermon at Sunday night's services. He 11 be back next Sunday morning. The Christmas program will be held Christmas Eve, beginning at 7:30. Everyone is invited. The Rev. Jarvis Underwood was unable to commute from Waynes vllle to Sugarfork church Sunday morning and many of the con gregation were unable to attend I because of road conditions. A group did go for Sunday School. Sunday night those taking part In the Christmas program met and practiced their parts. The Christmas program has been set for Tuesday night, December 23. at 7:30. The public is invited. There will be a Christmas tree and exchange gifts.' The Cullasaja Assembly of Ood Church has ftet its Christmas program for Saturday night, De cember 20. at 7:30. An invitation Is extended to all wishing to at tend. An important feature of the program will be a two-hour play entitled "And There Found H?ey Christ". The members brought sewing machines and made costumes to be used In the Christmas play. Each one brought a covered dish for lunch. After lunch they exchanged gifts. The president, Mrs. John Smith, was In charge of the business session and reported on the coun ty council meeting she and an other member, Mrs. Harvey Cabe. attended. Mrs. Jeter Higdon, as home gardens leader, gave a re port. The group appointed Mrs. J. P. Shuford, Mrs. Harvey Cabe, and Mrs. Molton Buchanan to prepare and distribute fruit bas kets to the shut-Ins in the com munity. The January meeting will be held with Mrs. Frank Sellers. Snow Party It doesn't take much of a rea son for teen-agers to throw a party. Snow was the reason Sun day and thi place was Jim Cunn ingham's. Mrs. Cunningham said It was a "boomerang party", for it was over as suddenly as it be gan. and all quite unexpected. Snowballing, popcorn, and orange ade highlighted the party, as well as music.
