December 19. Instead of exchang
ing gifts, donations were put un
der the tree for the building fund.
These came to $566. The children

After 30 years of service with
the Georgia Highway Department,
a Macon County native, Grady
A. Stockton, will be returning
here soon.
Mr. Stockton, who has been
living in Jeeup, has retired from
the department and has received
his 30-year faithful service certifi
cate. "He and Mrs. Stockton will
move soon to their home in the
West Union community.

son of Sam Stockton and the
late Mrs. Rozette Hastings Stock
ton. During World War I Mr.
Stockton served with the 30th
Division in Prancje. He returned
here after the war and held sev
eral jobs with the N.C. Highway
Department before going to Geor

Dr. Morgan Discusses
Growing Shrubs, Ferns
Dr. A. Rufus Morgan was guest
speaker at the regular meeting
of the Franklin Garden Club held
last Monday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. Gilmer A. Jones.
The subject of Dr. Morgan's
talk was, "Flowering Shrubs and
Fecns", in which he gave the club
members many helpful hints on
the glowing and care of their gar
den shrubs and ferns, based on
his many years of experience in
his own garden and in the woods
where he has spent much time
studying wild shrubs and ferns.

economics agent, gave a short
talk in presenting a plan for a
committee to be formed from vari
ous civic organizations with the

Mrs. Krickbaum's sister, Mrs.

home with them, after a visit of
