Earl Crowe, recently to reorganize the M.Y.P. It Is hoped the organization will be functioning by April. They will use the basement of the new church f or a meeting place. Some grading has been done around the church and commun ity building and gravel has been poured to make a parking lot for the church. Personals Mrs. B. C. Tony, have returned to their homes In Charlotte and Kan napolis after spending a week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Cochran. Miss Susie Mashburn left Wed nesday to spend a few days in Ashevllle with relatives before leaving for Washington, D. C., where she will be employed as a stenographer by the Navy. Mi1, and Mrs. Olynn Mays have returned home after spending sev eral days in Charlotte. Mrs. John Brantly and sons, Johnny and Scott, of Columbia, S. C.. are spending the week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Cochran. Doyle Cloer has joined the U.S. Air Force and is now stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Texas. Bill Krickbaum, student at N.C. State College, spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Krickbaum, and his grand parents, Mr. and Mis. R. D. Wells. Mr. and Mis. Ed Williams and children. Tommy* and Jane, of Waynesvilie, visited Mrs. Williams' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Stewart, Monday. Ted Blaine made a trip to Albe marle last week to get pulpit furni ture and a communion rail for the Patton church. Enroute, he spent the night with his niece, Mrs. J. L. Sales, and Mr. Sales. Misses Margaret Larson and Joan Pierce, members of the North Dakota State College choir, were guests of Martha Blaine Monday night. Mack M'Call, Maccnian, Dies At 85 ' Farmer Succumbs In Hospital; Rites Sunday Mack McCall, 85, farmer and Macon County native, died Sat urday at 8:20 a.m. at Angel Hos pital. He had been ill a week. Funeral services were held Sun day afternoon at the Sugarfork Baptist Church by the Rev. George Cloer and the Rev. William Shields. Burial was in the church cemetery. Born May 20, 1873, Mr. McCall was the son of George and Mrs. Peggy Barnes Teague McCall. He was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church and was married in 1894 to Miss Frances Wood, of this county, who died in January, 1953. Surviving are four sons, Wilburn and Sam McCall, of Pontiac, Mich.. Clifford McCall, of Atlan ta, Ga.. and Beulon MoCall. of Franklin ; two daughters. Mrs. Luddie Jones and Mrs. Jasper Mc Call, both of Franklin; 32 grand children; and 33 great-grandchil dren. Arrangements were handled by ? Bryant Funeral Home. TAKING TRAINING FORT JACKSON, S. Franklin Native Dies In Ohio; Former Teacher Mrs. Clara Belle Neu, a native of Franklin, died March 4 In the Brown County General Hospital. Georgetown, Ohio, after an Illness of several months. Mrs. Neu was for many years a teacher In the Georgetown Ele mentary School, but because of illness was not teaching at the time of her death. Slxty-tnree, she spent her childhood in Franklin. Her parents were the late Oeorge and Bessie Stiles. She had lived In Ohio since 1927. Mrs. Neu was a graduate of Carson Newman, the University of Cincinnati and the Conservatory, and was active in music circles In her commun ity. Funeral services were held in Georgetown. . Mrs. Neu is survived by two sons. Lt. Ted Neu. who is with the U.S. Array at Fort Knoxt Ky.. and William Neu. of Cincinnati; and a sister, Mrs. C. E. Cooper, of Franklin. WAS FARMER-BLACKSMITH ? W. M. Swafford, Maconian, Dies Saturday At Home William Martin Swafford. farm er and blacksmith of Franklin, Route 3, died Saturday at S p.m. at his home. A Macon native, he was 79. Funeral services for Mr. Swaf ford. who had been 111 for the past 18 months, were conducted Monday afternoon at the Iotla Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Officiating were the Rev. Manuel Wyatt, the Rev. W. L. Sorrells, the Rev. Lee Mason, and the Rev. Paul Heafner. Burial was in the church cemetery. Born Oct. 1. 1879, he was the son of John and Mrs. Rachel Grant Swafford. He was married , twice, first to Miss Nannie Craw ford in 1901. who died In August, 1937. and on July 25. 1942. to Miss Mae Rowland, who survives. Also surviving are a son, the Rev. Arvll Swafford, of Route 3; four brothers, Jim and Harley Swafford, of Route 3, Perry Swaf ford, of Route 5, and Jess Swaf ford, of Toccoa, Ga.: a grandchild; and a greatgrandchild. Nephews serving as pallbearers were Paul, Verlon, Harley. Clifton, Ray, and Harold Swafford. Arrangements were handled by Bryant Funeral Home. W. L. Hamby, Maconian, Dies In Va. William Leroy Hamby, 37, a Franklin native and resident of Newport News. Va., for 14 years, died Saturday morning in a New port News hopsital after a short illness.
