Mrs. Frank Shope, county health nurse, has announced there will be no physical examinations given children at this clinic. All parents and pre-school chil dren are urged to attend. Highlands Ejection Is Wide Open HIGHLANDS ? A wide open election May 5 shaped up here Saturday with the town filing deadline. Two are seeking the office of mayor, and nine are running for the five-man board of commission ers. Incumbent Mayor V. C. McCall did not file for reelection. His seat is bein gsought by Charles C. Potts and Harvey S. Talley. Three incumbent commissioners are running for reelection, L. C. Billlngsley, L. W. Rice, and Tudor N. Hall. New candidates are Frank Crane, Maurice Cleveland. Phil Tate, Steve Potts, A. C. Patterson, and J. A. Hodges. Incumbents Kirk Wilson and Edward Potts did not file. The registration books are open all this week. Saturday will be challenge day. Mrs. R. S. Morgan, Former Resident, Dies At Webster Mrs. Ralph Slier Morgan. Sr.. 70 died Thursday afternoon of last week at the home of a son. Dr. Ralph S. Morgan, at Webster. Mrs. Morgan and her husband were residents here during World War II, when Mr. Morgan was a pharmacist at Perry's Drug Store. Funeral services were held Sun day afternoon at Orace Episcopal Church In Waynesvllle. The Rev. Wilson Sneed, rector of St. Luke's Church, Atlanta, Ga.. and Rev. A. Rufus Morgan, officiated. Surviving, in addition to the son, are two daughters, Mrs. John T. Morgan, of Richmond, Va.. and Mrs. Marie Runyan, of New York City; two brothers, H. R. Mcin tosh, of Hayesville, and Spalding Mcintosh, of Brevard; two sisters. Mrs. Frank Jenkins, of Brevard, and Mrs. William A. Hyatt, of Waynesvllle, and five grandchil dren. Pallbearers were Dr. T. This meeting was conducted by the project leaders, with Mrs. Robert Corbln in charge. The devotional period was con ducted by Mrs. Dewey Corbln. Hie 10 rules for taking the hard way out of your Job were read. A dis cussion was held on ways to make money for the club. A number of the club members plan to attend the district meeting in Bryson City May 6. A talk was made by Miss Callle Deal on her recent trip to Arkan sas. She showed a yearbook used by the clubs there. Miss Deal's picture will be used in the Arkan sas scrapbook because of her long perfect attendance record in club work. Pinal plans were made for the dress review. Mrs. Pat Kenney was a visitor. Following the business meeting. Mrs. Justice served refreshments to the 13 women present. Six At Sapper Monday night at the commun ity building, six families attended the covered dish supper. Because of the small attendance, Fred Deal, president, postponed business of the community organization until the next regular meeting May 4. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Deal, accom panied by Mrs. Ruth Landrum, Misses Angle and Callle Deal, were guests at a birthday dinner for their sister, Mrs. R. L. Ful bright, at her home In Junaluska Sunday.
