Here And There In * ' Ridgecrest And Watauga MRS. ED CRAWFORD "Staff Correspondent - The Rldgecrest Home Demon stration Club met October 20 at t,he home of Mrs. Oaylord Reed, with 11 members present. The cl'ub selected a committee of three to elect officers. They were Mrs. John Snyder, Mrs. Oaylord Reed, and Mrs. Harvey Cabe. As family life leader. Mrs. Frank Sellers made a report. The home gardens leader, Mrs. Jeter Higdon, also reported. Mrs. Higdon read the letter sent by The Inter-Church and Civic Betterment Interest Group to the county and town governing bodies and other organizations citing seven suggestions to make a better community. The club approved the letter. Mrs. Mabel Swan, assistant home agent, gave a demonstration on "Eat a Good Breakfast". . Mrs. Lawson Snyder gave the devotional. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Lawson Snyder. Auxiliary To Meet The Gills' Auxiliary of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church will meet Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Jeter Higdon at 2 o'clock. The mmebers are all urged to attend. Personals Mr. and Mrs. James Sanders, of Pontiac, Mich., are here visiting Mr. Sanders' parents, Mr. and ,JJrs. Jim Sanders. 'Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Brendle, of Candler, visited Mrs. R. D. Brendle Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sanders, of Bassett, Va., are visiting rela tives in the community. Mr. and Mrs. Arley Henderson and son spent several days this week in Tennessee, visiting Mrs. Henderson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Lee. Mrs. Fred York and Mrs. Walter Pressley visited Mr. and Mrs. Earl York in Florida last week. Return ing with them to spend some time visiting the Yorks and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Leibovit was Mrs. Ida York. Spending last week end in J^anassas, Va., visiting her hus band, was Mrs. /George Raby. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Berry went to Greenville, S. C., Sunday after Mrs. Frank Brendle, who had been there spending a few days with her daughter, Mrs. Howard Green. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hop kins over the week end were Charlie Hopkins, Miss Geneta Hopkins, and her girl friend, of Kirk Douglas in "THE LAST TRAIN y FROM GUN HILL" Qastonla. Sunday afternoon the Hopkins took the girls to Cullo whee. where they are enrolled In college. They also visited Carl Hopkins at Speedwell. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Moses spent the week end in Oastonia visiting Mr. and Mrs. Charles Moses. Last week end visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Fred York were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Quest and daughter, Connie, of Raleigh, and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Quest, of Danville. Va. Jud Shope, of Michigan, spent several days this week visiting the Joe Hopkinses. Death Takes \ Mrs. Fouts An Michigan ; Mrs. Nettie Pearl Fouts, former ly of this county, died last Thurs day at St. Joseph's Hospital, Pon tiac, Mich., following a brief ill ness. Mrs. Fouts, who operated a kindergarten in Franklin a num ber of years ago, had taught in the North Carolina public schools and for seven years had been a teacher in the Pontiac schools. She was 51. Graduated* from Meredith Col lege, Raleigh, she later took post graduate work at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She was a member of the teach ers' honor society. Delta Kappa Gamma, the American Childhood Education Association, the Ameri can Legion Auxiliary, and the Pontiac First Baptist Church. She was a native of Fuquay Springs, in Wake County, and funeral services were held at the Fuquay Springs Baptist Church, Sunday, with burial there. Neph ews served as pallbearers. Survivors, in addition to her husband, Joseph Fouts, include six brothers and three sisters, all of Fuquay Springs. Miss Allison Is Named Secretary Of Sorority Miss Margaret Lane Allison, of Stecoah, Graham County, former ly of Franklin, is the newly in stalled secretary of Phi Sigma N'J Chapter of the Student Education Association at Woman's College, Greensboro, according to an an nouncement received here from the college. Miss Allison,, a senior at W. C., is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Allison. Her father formerly was an assistant county agent here.
