Mrs. Ann Berry is making covers for all audio visual equip ment at Cullasaja School, using Army surplus cloth for the covers. Cullasaja P.-T_A. met with the county-wide P.-T.A. meeting Mon day night at Franklin High cafeteria, where they heard Dr. I. E! Ready speak and discuss the progress his curriculum study commission has made. The children are enjoying the playground again, for the first time in several weeks. Plan Joint Meeting ? ? ' "" 'ifr '. Hooper, state license examiner, who will speak on "Safety". Personals ' Petty Officer 2/c Elmer Cook, who has been stationed with the U. S. Navy at Pensacola, Fla . Is spending a 30-day leave here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Cook. After his leave, he will re port to Norfolk. Va., for duty. Another son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Cook, Pvt. Doyle Cook, of the U.S. Army, also came home on leave Sunday. After spending two weeks here, Pvt. Cook will report to Ft. Sam Houston. San Antonio, Tex., where he has been assigned to the Medical Corps-, and he will attend an eight weeks' training school there. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cook, Miss Martha Lou Cook, Pvt. Eston Cook, and Miss Linda Moore went to Atlanta Sunday to meet Pvt. Doyle Cook. Pvt. Harold Ammons, who was traveling with Pvt. Cook also accompanied them back to Franklin. Pvt. Ammons is visiting his mother, Mrs. Bob Gaines, and Mr. Gaines. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Sam A. Bryson for the week end was their daughter, Miss Otela Bryson. of Asheville. . Furman Corbin, Jr., of Ashe .Ville, visited his grandmother, Mrs. Eva Corbin, this week end. Mr. Corbin is leaving Thursday for Holland to a town near Am sterdam, where he is being sent by American Enka Corpoartion, for whom he works. He will be abroad for several months, re turning to the States about the first of August. While he is in Holland, Mr. Corbin also plans to visit his half-brother, Jerry Corbin, who is stationed in Ger many with the U.S. Army. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Price this week end were Mr. Price's brother and sister-in-lav.', Mr. and Mrs. Ross Price, of Gas tonia. Monday. Miss Mae Stanfield and Mrs. Ebb Bullock went to Asheville on a shopping trip. They met at Louisa Chapel Sunday night, March 27. Jean Dills and Ronnie Waldroop were in charge of the program. The vice-president, Steve Cabe, presided over the business meet ing. After the business meeting the group played games. About 15 people were there. Saturday night. March 26. the members of the M.Y.F. gave a party at the Carson Community Building, with 20 people attend ing. Refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Bryson were the chaperons. Three members ahd a leader of the M. Y. P. received honor cards Sunday for attending the Meth odist Training School each of the three nights it was held last week. They are Lee Garner, Eddie Moses, Tommy Sherrill, and Mrs. B, L. Sherrill. W. S. C. S. Meets Thq W.S.C.S. met at the home of Mrs. Harold Moore, Jr. Thurs day night. March 24. Eight mem bers attended the meeting. Mrs. Moore was in charge of the pro gram. Their two guests were Mrs. L. P. Heafner and Mrs. Harold Moore, Sr. They're Dancing Again ? The Carson Cloggers have start ed dancing again. Friday night, March 25, they danced at the an nual 4-H talent show at East Franklin School as an exhibition. The team is planning other per formances in the near future. Hubert ^fayes, founder of the Mountain Youth Jamboree, was in Franklin Monday, March 28. and invited the Carson Cloggers and the Promelets, square dance teams under the leadership of Mrs. J. P. Cunningham, to appear in the' an nually Jaycee-sponsored contest at the Asheville City Auditorium. Fri day night, April 8. Memorial Service The offering at Carson Chapel church next Sunday. The funeral of the West's son-in-law, Cline Deitz, who was killed in an automobile accident in Stark, Fla., the prior week end, was held that afternoon at East Fork Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Dewit Thompson and daughters, Janice, Carol, and Annette; left Tuesday morning for Charlotte, where Mr. Thomp son will attend a two-day auto matic transmission school. be earmarked for the church building fund In memory of Mr. George Conley, whose birthday is April 2. A memorial fund was started by organizations of the community at the time of his death. Mr. Conley was a loyal member of the church and an outstanding citizen.
