Brady's
BLARNEY
B; A Bnulj OIM J. P
Hail to thee, lovers of pure but
ter. My heartfelt thanks for the
support you have given my recent
column concerning the use of
cheap, oily substitutes.
Seme of you sided with my argu
ment in favor of good old fashion
ed butter and some of you sided
with my wife for using those
cheap, oily substitutes. Matter of
fact, Harley Lyle said it was
fortunate that he wasn't married
to me for he would make me eat
the stuff or else. I think it's fortu
nat that I'm not married to him
for other reasons, into which we
will not delve at this time.
Anyway, the refrigerator up at
"Mortgage Manor" now has sev
eral pounds of good old country
butter, thanks to friends who took
pity on me. My little boy and I
are thoroughly enjoying it, too.
The wife? Well, she's speaking
to me once again, although her
stubborn streak is asserting itself.
She refuses to eat any of that good
old country butter, which suits us
just fine!
? jpb ?
Called home about lunch time
one day last week and the wife
greeted me with, "Hello, Brady
Cat Ranch".
Things are oecomrng a little
crowded up at "Mortgage Manor"
these days.
"Cat ranch?" I answered, think
ing maybe she'd flipped her lid.
And then she explained "there
are kittens all over the yard . . .
come home and help me."
When I got home I found she
hadn't exaggerated one bit. Our |
boy's two mama cats had their |
litters all over the place. I gath-|
ered up Buff's young and put her i
with them in a tool shed. Sam |
( named In honor of Sam Gibson i
. . . at the time we figured she
was a "he") had her brood in an
old dog house.
A nose count of the new ar- j
rivals revealed that the cat popu- ,
latlon at our place had swelled to !
13.
Of course it came as no sur
prise to us. Buff and Sam do this
at regular Intervals. However, this
was the first time they've arrived
at motherhood at about the same
time and it did confuse the issue
for a while.
Believe me when I say these
two mother cats are opportunists.
When they're in a motherly way
they get preferential treatment:
that is. condensed milk, regular
cat food Instead of table scraps,
and, if during thd winter, indoor
sessions for warming. So, with
these added services in mind they
apparently have blanket invita
tions out to every torn cat in East
Franklin, not that torn cats need
invitations.
Anyone like to have a kitten?

An Associated Press dispatch
from Memphis. Tenn.. explains my
elation. It says:
BIRTH CONTROL
FOR CATS URGED
BY MEMPHIS CLUB
MEMPHIS. Tenn.,? A piea fcr
birth control in cats came today
from the Memphis and Mid-South
Cat Fanciers Club.
"Unwanted" cabbies, the club
said, are mistreated and some
times cruelly slaughtered. The
solution: increased spaying of fe
male and "neuterizing" of male
cats so that the birth of new
kittens may be controlled.
