The pastor, the Rev. Thad R. Dawdle, was in Waynesville helping the Rev. Wayne Soirells with a revival there. Attend Meeting Those from Ridgecrest who at tended the Women's Missionary {Society county-wide all-day meet tng at lot la Baptist Church last Wednesday were Mrs. Frank Sellers. Mrs. Goraon Smith, Mrs. Jim Thompson. Mrs. Elsie Smith Mrs. Jeter Hi* don. Mrs John Snyder, and the Rev. Thad R Dcwdle. Chastain-Goodman Mrs. Connie Chastain and Jessie Goodman, both of Frank lin, formerly of Chicago, 111., were married In Clarkesvllle, Oa.. April 26 using a double-cing ceremony. The bride was attired In navy blue, with which she wore white accessories. They were accom panied by Mrs. Joe Shuler and Grady Pranks. Mrs. Goodman Is a sister of Mrs. Lois Cagle, of Franklin. Mr. Goodman Is associated with the Athletic Club In Chicago, 111., from which he is retired. The couple are making their home In the Beeco apartments. A wedding trip Is planned at a later date. YVriorr Roast A weiner roast was held Friday night at Arrowood Glade by a group of young people. Chaperones for the roast were Mr. and Mrs Ernest Brendle and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Kinsland. Mrs. Nettie Cabe has returned to her home in the eastern pa. t of North Carolina after spending a month here with her mother. Mrs. John Elders. Mr. and Mrs. James Mason, o' Monticello, Ga? visited Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Price Sunday. Douglas Thompson returned la school this week after being ill last week. MACONIAN Psses At Home In Mount Holly; Rite* Here Wiley Milas Holbrooks, a Macon County native who has been living in Gaston County for the past 14 years, died April 29 at his home in Mount Holly. Sixty-two, he had been in declining health for three years. Funeral services for Mr. Hol brooks, who had been a textile worker for seven years, were con ducted at 2:30 p.m. on May 2 at the Union Methodist Church here. Officiating were the Rev. Earl Crowe, pastor, and the Rev. Mrs. Ellen Hopkins home to Sylva Sunday after she had spent a week visiting them. Mrs. Ray Mclntyre, who has been working in Sylva as a beauty parlor operator, is now working in Franklin. George A. Cloer. Burial was in the Union oemetery. Pallbearers were Grady and Slqan Hoi brooks, Ora Ledford. Frank Jones, Frank Hastings, and Wade Morgan. Born February 2, 1897, he was the son of Jerry and Mrs. Arte Mason Holbrooks. He was a mem ber of the Union Methodist Church and was married July 10. 1910 to Miss Texle Morgan, of this county, who survives. Also surviving are five sons. Jerry M.. Frank, and Herman Hoi brooks, or Mount Holly, James Holbrooks. of High Point, and Jess Holbrooks, of Fenton, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Lynn Dllllnger. of Mount Holly; a sister, Mrs. Thad Dowdle. of Franklin, Route 2; and 19 grandchildren. Arrangements were handled by Potts Funeral Home. Tobacco production In Rhodesia and Nyasaland Is forecast at 201 million pounds this year. This is six million pounds above last year. Bigger helpings of ice cream and other frozen dairy foods were eaten in 1958 than ever before. Consumption per person hit 18.8 quarts, the highest in over a decade. National Dairy Council states.
