Garden Club Sets
Flower Show Date
A regular meeting of the Frank
lin Garden Club was held Monday
In the social hall of the Presby
terian church with 22 members
present.
Mrs. Steve Bundy, president,
presided. Reports were given by
the various committee chairmen.
Programs for the year were out
lined and a report on the North
Carolina State Garden Club Con
vention, which was held last week
at the Grove Park Inn, Ashevllle,
was given by Mrs. Bundy, who at
tended the entire convention.
Plans were made for the annual
flower show and the date was set
for August 17. The club also voted
to enter the show for a purple
award, which is given to three
flower shows in the state each
year.
Mrs. H. Bueck program chair
man, introduced Dr. Kelley Ben
nett, of Bryson City, who showed
color slides he has made of sur
rounding mountains, wild flowers,
and home flower gardens.
Hostesses were Mrs. E. S. Piir
dom, Mrs. John Bulgin, and Mrs.

Of Review Done
By Woman's Club
A supper meeting Monday night
was used by members of the
Franklin Junior Woman's Club to
make more plans for their an
ual "Red Stocking Review" in
June.
Club wcmen discussed a number
of special projects to raise money
and committees are now at work
on some of them. The supper was
at the H and J Restaurant.
The local talent review will be
held June 16-18 in the high school
gymnasium.
