J. C. Cowan, Jhr. J. C. Cowan, Jr., vice-chairman of the board of Burlington Industries joined Burlington in 1931, eight years after the company's beginning in Burlington. From superintendent of the Ossippe plant, near Burlington, he moved to the executive offices in Greensboro to subsequently become general manager, president, and in 1954, vice-chairman of the board. Mr. Cowan Is a native o i Rutherford ton and a graduate of the University of North Carolina. Herbert M. Kaiser Herbert M. Kaiser, chairman of the board of Burlington Hosiery Company, has spent virtually all of his business career in the hosiery field and is widely-known throughout the In dustry as the outstanding hosiery man in the business. He was one of the initial founders and subsequent^ head of the well-known May-McEwen-Kaiser Company, which Burlington acquired In 1948. He continued as head of Burlington's hosiery operations and he is also a senior vice-president and director of Burlington Industries. Under his leadership the hosiery operations have played an increasingly important part in the development and growth of Burlington Industries. In addition, his knowledge, advice, and counsel have benefited many other segments of the company. Mr. Kaiser, a native and resident of New York City, was graduated front City College in New York. Howard A. Kaiser Howard A. Kaiser, president of Burlington Hosiery Company, began his career in hosiery manufacturing with May-McEwen Kaiser company. In 1948, at the time the company was aquired by Burlington, he was sales manager and vice-president. He be came Cameo .Sales manager of the May-McEwen-Kaiser di vision of the company in 1949 and in 1955 was made a vice president and director of sales for Burlington Hosiery Co. He became president in October of 1958. Mr. Kaiser is a native of New York City, a graduate of Dartmouth, and a resident of Stamford, Conn. His offices are in the New York sales head quarters of the company. Thomas B. Sain Thomas B. Sain, executive vice-president of Burlington Hos iery Company, is itn charge of aH hosiery manufacturing opera tions. He began his association with Burlington Industries hi 1941. After serving a a superintendent of various Burtingtsa hosiery plants, he became a group manager. In 1954 he was named division manager of the No Seam Division of Burling ton Hosiery Company, with headquarters at Harriman, Team. The following year he was named a vice-president of Burling ton Hosiery Company, and moved his offices to the bualuj division headquarters in Greensboro. In October, 1958, he as sumed responsibilities as executive vtce-preskfant. Mr. Sain Is a native of High Point. Normar J. Campbell Norman J. Campbell succeeded Mr. Sain as division manager of the No Seam Division of Burlington Hosiery Company at Harriman, Tenn. in 1955, when Mr. Sain moved to Greensboro. Prior to that time, Mr. Campbell had been an the personnel staff of the hosiery division and group manager of the No Seam Division. He joined the company in 1946 and was named vice-president in charge of seamless operations in 1958. He is a mechanical engineer graduate of the University of Alabama and has taken special courses at Purdue University and the University of North Carolina. He was born in New York City. Hh residence and headquarters are in Greensboro, N. C. Ira Drake Ira YV. Drake, personnel director of Burlington Hosiery Com pany since 1953, joined the company in 1946 in personnel and industrial relations work at the Greensboro executive offices. He is a native of Georgia and a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he has taken graduate courses. He lives in Greensboro. Prior to Joining Burlington, he was a personnel di rector for U. ,5. Rubber Company for several years and for three years prior to this was a high school football coach. J. Hinton Rountree J. Hinton Kountree, Burlington Hosiery Company controller since early 1957, joined Burlington Industries in 1936 as a cost clerk, quickly moving into office administration at various company plants. Before assuming controller responsibilities at hosiery division offices in Greensboro, he was head of office administration at the Burlington Industries main office in Greensboro. Mr. Rountree is a native of Sunbury and a gradu ate of Elon College. Joseph L. Perkins, Jr. Joseph L Perkins, Jr., group manager of the Do than, Ala., and Franklin plants of Burlington Hosiery Company, has his headquarters in Harriman, Tenn. He was educated at High Point High School and -Guilford Business College in High Point. Mr. Perkins joined Burlington Industries in July 1938, ami has held varied manufacturing and administrative positions in Burlington operations.
