News About People Mr*. J. D. Southard and daugh ter, Pater, have returned to their home on Route I after a three weeks' vacation In California and Washington. They visited Mrs. Southard's two sisters, Mrs. Mar garet Rhodes and her family and Mrs. Lee Potts and family, of Orick, Calif., and Mrs. Luther Sanders and family, of Longvlew, Washington. They were accom> panied home by Mr. and Mrs. Luther Sanders and son, Jimmy, who will spend some time visiting friends and relatives in Franklin. Mrs. W. C. Haskett and son, David, of Everette, Wash., are visiting Mrs. Hackett's mother, Mrs. Riffle Miller of Franklin. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar E. Welch and children, Kathy and Kim, of Danville, Va? have been visiting relatives here the past week. Mr. Welch I* field engineer for the city of Danville. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Hedrick and ion, Kim, of Charlotte,, are spending two weeks here visiting relatives. Mrs. Hedrick Is the former Miss Joanna Welch, daugh ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Welch. Mr. Hedrick Is employ ed at a Charlotte post office. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Welch and children, Kay and Phil, of Danville, Va., are visiting relatives here this week. Mr. Welch is Executive Director for the Dan ville Redevelopment and Housing Authority. Miss Norma Jean Welch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Welch, and Miss Welch's friend, Miss Dorothy Deaton, of Valley Forge, Pa., left Wednesday of last week for a tour of the United States. Stanfleld. Mrs. Jane Tllson and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Tllson and family spent the week end visiting Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Tllson and family and Mrs. Inez Teague In Gastonia. Mr. and Mrs. Safe Teague and children spent last week vacation ing at St. Petersburg. Fla. While there, they also visited Mr. and Mrs. Nat Hilton, former residents of Wayah Valley. Mr. Hilton is reported improving after being ill for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Teague, of Clemson. S. C? visited their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Teague and Mrs. Grace Tatham, over the week end. Miss Jearlene Davis has recent ly been discharged from C. J. Har ris Community Hospital, Sylva. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph O. Lan drum, of Daytona Beach, Fla are .spending several days at their summer home in the Cullasaja Community. Miss Edith Christy, of Winston Salem. is spending the summer here with her brother and sister in-law, Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Chris ty. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hlgdon last week were Mrs. Hlg don's sister, Mrs. C. D. Harring ton, and Mr. Harrington, of For est Park. Ga? and Mrs. Higdon's sister-in-law, Mrs. Carl Greenwood, of Atlanta. Mrs. Higdon's step mother, Mrs. J. J. Greenwood, of Baldwin, Ga., Is spending this week with Mr. and Mrs. Higdon. Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Seawell, of Winston-Salem, were week-end guests here of Mr. and Mrs. Weimar Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Sea well are the parents-in-law of the former Miss Elizabeth Jones. Mrs. Charles Hendricks arrived last week to spend the summer with her daughter, Mrs. S. H. Lyle, Jr., and Mr. Lyle. Mrs. Hend ricks' home is in Tampa, Fla.
