THE SECRET'S REVEALED -
Reportin' Vs Pickin'
Unknown to the general pub
lic, PRESS reporter Todd Reece
has a split personality.
The non-newspaper prong of
the smiling newsman's nature
will be revealed to the public
at the annual Macon County
Folk Festival the- nights of Aug
ust 4. 5, and 6 at the Franklin
High Stadium.
But, for those of you who
can't wait that long, the secret
is this:
Reporter Reece, in addition
to being a good newsman, is
one of the best banjo pickers
hereabouts. His musical biog
raphy proves it.
No* single pick player, he ex
cells in two specialized styles of
playing: the new Earl Scruggs
[ style utilizing three, picks, and

Team Loses
To Canton
Saturday
Score: 8 To 6;
Coach Praises
Members
A lightning fast Canton team
knocked Franklin out of the
western district Little League
tournament Saturday on its j
home diamond by a score of 8
to 6.
Franklin jumped to a 4 to 0
lead in the first inning, but
the breaks went the other way
from then on. Even the excel
lent pitching of Andy Norton
failed to give the local Little
Leaguerers the needed boo6t to
?tin.
Praising his team highly for
its performance, Coach Bob
Carpenter said "a little break
one way or another and they
could have been on the long
end of the 8 to 6 score, Instead
of the short end.
League Won't
Play Second
Half Of Season
Because of a short season,
Little League will not play the
second half of its season.
Instead, double elimination
playoffs are scheduled to de
termine the winner of the sec
ond half. The playoffs will start
tomorrow (Friday) with the
Jaybirds playing the Thunder
birds at 4 o'clock and the Red
dys meeting the Wildcats at
5:30.
Bad weather last winter is
partly responsible for the short
playing season. The school term
was extended several days tc
make up for days lost while
schools were closed because of
the weather.
The first half of the season
ended in a three-way tie for
the, top spot between the Jay
birds, Reddys, and Thunder
':irds.
