Congratulations To Social Security On Its ? . / 25 th Anniversary 1935-1960 25 Years' Service To Your Community Social Security Week Is Aug. 14-20 _ . ?. , - ( DRAFT PROCLAMATION SOCIAL SECURITY WEEK The American social security system, which promotes the well-being of individuals and families, has served the Nation for 25 years. First becoming law on August 14, 1935, the Social Security Act now provides income and services to individuals and fam ilies. It helps to keep families together and to free our people from fear and want. Many in this community have been helped and are being helped by one or more of the programs established by the So cial Security Act. These include Federal old-age, survivors, and disability insurance. Now, therefore, in the 25th year that our national social security has been in ex istence, I, W. C. Burrell, Mayor of Franklin, in recognition of the service of social se curity to the country and to this community, proclaim the week of August 14 through August 20 as SOCIAL SECURITY WEEK in Franklin, and I further proclaim Aug ust 14th as SOCIAL SECURITY DAY in Franklin. I urge full participation by the people of Franklin in the events which have been planned in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Social Security Act. Mayor W. C. Burrell, of Franklin, signs the Social Security Week Proclamation as George F. Linewall, Field Representative for Macon County, looks on.
