Grier, of Carthage, was in Vass Wednesday. Mrs. G. W. Griffin spent Monday in Hamlet. Mr. Landon Tyson came home from Raleigh, Sunday. Mr. W. D. Smith was in Southern Pines Wednesday. Mr. Turney Matthews, of Lakeview, spent Sunday with home folks. Mesdames Bertie Matthews and Kate Brooks made a trip to Sanford Monday. Mr. and Mrs. D. A. McLauchlin mo tored to Raeford Sunday, where they visited Mrs. McLauchlin’s mother, Mrs. C. J. Gillis. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McLean, of Cameron, attended the McLean-Smith wedding Wednesday. Mrs. T. K. Gunter and children have returned from a visit to rela tives at Moncure. Miss Mary Smith, of Upper Hoke, was the guest of Mrs. D. C. McGill the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Smith motored to Dunn Sunday to visit Mrs. Smith’s sister. Mrs. A. M. Cameron and daughter, Marion, are spending a while v/Hh Mrs. Cameron’s parents. Dr. and Mrs. J. F. McKay, of Buies Creek. Miss Mayme McKeithen, of Rae ford, a teaciier in the Biscoe school, and Mr. McCauley called on friends in Vass Sunday afternoon. Miss Caro McNeill and Mr. Allen, of Allen, spent part of last week with Miss McNeill’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. McNeill. Mr. T. J. Brooks, of Greensboro, Mrs. W. I. Brooks, of Jonesboro, and Mrs. J. W. Privett and little son. Brooks, of Bailey, visited at the home of Mrs. Geo. W. Brooks, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. D. T. Hanes and two children, of Union, S. C., are at the Hotel Vass for the winter. Mr. Hanes is a representative of the Caro lina Veterinary Co., of that place. Mr. Arthur Thompson accompanied his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. E. B. Thompson, of Cameron Route 1 to Laurinburg and Raeford where they visited relatives Saturday and Sun day. Rev. M. D. McNeill held Thanks giving services at the Presbyterian church Sunday evening. A collection of $81.10 was taken for Barium Springs Orphanage, and since then additions brought the total up to $101.10. Contribution to the Raleigh Orphanage by the M. E. DEATH OF DOUGALD CAMERON News reached here Thursday morn ing of the death of Dougald Cameron, of near Pineview, on Wednesday even ing. Mr. Cameron was 80 years old, being the oldest of a family of five boys and five girls. Of these ten children, three boys and two girls are still living. They are, Messrs. Daniel B. Cameron of Durham, A. Cameron and W. J. Cameron of Vass. Mes dames J. A. Cameron of Swans Sta tion, and Christian Cameron of Jones boro Route 2. The funeral services will be con ducted from Barbecue Presbyterian church Friday morning at 11 o’clock.
