Messrs. Hampton and Elvey Thomas of Raleigh, visited their mother, Mrs, J. R. Thomas, last Sunday. Mrs. A. M. Cameron and little daughter, Marion, have been visiting at Buies Creek. Messrs. Frederick Taylor and Gor don Thomas were in Raleigh last Fri day. The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. T. K. Gunter died at their home here on Wednesday. Mr. Neill Smith came home from State College to attend the graduat- in exercises last Saturday evening. Miss Emma Wilson, of Manley, was the guest of Miss Ollie Shields last Monday and Tuesday. Miss Ollie Shields, one of the teach ers in the Vass graded school left this week for her home near Carthage. Miss Gamaliel Coats, of Coats, left yesterday, after a visit to her sister here. Mrs. Lowe and daughter, Cather ine, of Raleign, spent Tuesday night here with friends. Miss Minnie Muse, of Cameron, was the guest of Mrs. S. R. Smith the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Atkinson and Mrs. Mayme Patterson, of Southern Pines, attended the closing exercises of the Vass graded school. Miss Valdah Deaton left Wednes day for a visit to her sisters in Ral eigh, before returning to her home at Spies. Miss Annie Borst and niece. Miss Helen Parker, of Cameron, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Borst, Monday and Tuesday. Misses Marie and Stacy Matthews left on Wednesday for their home near Siloam, after attending school here the past term. Thomas. ^ Mr. and Mrs. Ulysses Prevot, who have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. Miise for about ten days, left Ihursday morning of. last week for Bridgeport, Conn. Mr. Prevot was very favorably impressed with our town and vicinity. LAKEVIEW OPENING MAY 20 TOMBSTONES We take pleasure in announcing to c^r friends and the patronage of Lakeview that the opening of the Lakeview Bathing, and Pavillion will be on Saturday, May 20th. We have secured one of the best five piece orchestras in the State for the season. “The Davidson College Band” which will arrive on June 1st. Opening dance will be announced later. We appreciate the patronage given us last season and wish to assure you that we will endeavor to give you bet ter service this season, care of the patronage better than ever before. More cottages for the camp- ing parties. We ha/e secured the “Dell,” the red cottage by the lake and “Camp Coor,” the house in the pines across the railroad, which we did not have last season, these together with Fairview No. 1 and Fairview No. 2, Camp McQueen, Camp Overlook, Camp Rainbow, Camp Killgo and Camp Crystal will accomodate around 250 people. The fishing has already been going fine, several parties from Raleigh and other points having been down and carried away nice strings of Black Bass, Speckle Trout, Perch and Jack. We are booking reservations almost every day and some of the cottages have been taken into July. We have arranged with the railroad people for special rates and schedules. Watch the papers and write us at once what you may want.
