Thursday, November 1, 1923 THE PILOT Page Thrc^ death of MRS. BYNUM Mrs. Mary A. Bynum died at the T.esidence of Mr. W. J. Cameron in Vass last Friday afternoon, and was Knripd at Johnson’s Grove, Saturday Afternoon. Rev. M. D. McNeill, her ujmtor. conducting the funeral ser vices assisted by Rev. F. B. Noblitt. ]\lrs. Bynum is survived by a number of relatives. A more extended notice will appear in the Pilot next week. building highways The bigger the body the slower the movement, and the greater the move ment the longer it takes to get it started. The United States is a large body» almost entirely surrounded by motor cars and poor roads. It is mov ing slowly but surely, however, to ward the time when it will have noth ing but good roads—110,000 of them, so Uncle Sam says. Improving al most 8,000,000 miles of highway is a huge task and it takes time for it to tret under way. Federal aid is being gradually passed out to the various states, and before long we are going to commence to feel it around this section. We can’t hope to grab off our entire share, however, before some of the others get theirs, nor can we hope to be favored with all of the money in one bunch when it does get started. We must be content to move slowly, but to move! One thing we know, however, and that is that the section which shows the greatest interest in better roads, and the section that jumps in and shows active signs of roadbuilding will be the first ones to feel the ef fect of substantial help from the gov ernment. Communities that work for and vote for and agitate and actually show a determination to lift them selves out of the mud are getting federal aid. Those content to drag along with poorly patched up high ways are gomg to be the last in the country to get that greatest of all blessings to a community—good and modern highways. Don’t lose courage. Get started to agitating for better roads. Get your neighbor interested. And pretty soon you’ll interest Uncle Sam to the ex tent that he’ll dig down in his pocket to help you build them. About the only time a fellow would like to be down and out is when he is taking an airplane ride. Why is it that some people imag ine that by “sending off” for someth ing they’re really going to get their money’s worth? NOTICE OF SALE north CAROLINA, COUNTY OF MOORE. We changed our notion after we saw what Purina Chows will do. Building Up Hens During the Moult Means More Eggs When not fed properly at moulting time, a hp robs her flesh of protein to make feathers. This stops her laying By feeding Purina Chows, you help her make feathers quickly and get eggs sooner. Get your hens in shape for big production.
