Page Two Friday, September 26, I924 THE PILOT CAMERON Wedding bells are becoming quite frequent in our town. Sunday morn ing, 21st, at 10 o’clock, at the home of the bride, Miss Myrtle Gaddy, and Mr. C. N. Boaz, were united in mar riage, Rev. J. W. Hartsell officiating. The bride was beautifully gowned in brown georgette with accessories to match. Only members of the family were present: Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Thompson, of Vass, Messrs. Clyde Gaddy and Camp Gaddy, of Sanford, John Gaddy, Kinston, Miss Bessie Ol iver, of Sanford, was maid of honor. Immediately after the ceremony the bridal couple left for Wilson where the groom has a position with the highway construction company. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Gaddy, of Cameron. She is noted for her beauty, her goodness, her fine business and domestic qualities. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Boaz, of Cameron, is a young man of good morals, good business quali ties and highly respected. The following announcement has been received by the correspondent: Mrs. William James Kelly announces the marriage of her daughter, Eliza beth, to Mr. Thomas Lee Campbell, on Tuesday, September the sixteenth, nineteen hundred and twenty-four, Carthage, North Carolina. At home Washington, D. C. Mr. Arch McRae, of *‘Ever-Kewer,” Sanford, R. F. D., was a visitor in town Sunday. Mr. W. L. Tyndall came up from Comfort near Kinston, to spend the week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hunter, of Huntersville, and to accompany Mrs. Tyndall and their two sons on their return home. Mrs. Tyndall (nee) Miss Sue Hunter, who has been visiting her people at Hun tersville, enrolled her name as a sub scriber to The Pilot. Mr. Flint Loving, of Lillington, was home for over Sunday, Misses Cattie McDonald, Crissie McLean, Vera McLean and Mr. Don ald McDonald attended Presbytery at Fort Bragg last week. Mr. J. F. Saunders was in Raleigh Monday. Mr. and Mrs. T. Dark, of Mt. Ver non Springs, and Mr. F. W. Dark, of Fort Worth, Texas, visited Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Tally last week. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Coble McNeill, of Richmond, Va., are spending the week with Mr. McNeill’s parents. Rev. and Mrs. M. D. McNeill. Mr. J. F. Saunders spent part of last week in Charlotte with his broth er, Lawyer Saunders. Miss Kate Harrington, of Charlotte, is home for a two weeks visit to her mother. Mr. George Wooten has accepted a position with the Beasley Motor Co., at Vass. Mr. and Mrs. D. W. McNeill, Miss Ada McNeill and Miss Mary McNeill, of Lee line, called Sunday to see Mrs. Tildie Cole, an aged relative in Cen- ter-Union community. Mrs. Cole, who is in her 94th year, is improving from a recent illness. Mrs. Jewel Hemphill spent Tuesday in Raleigh. Prof. and Mrs. J. Clyde Kelly, Mrs. J. A. McPherson were over in Sanford Friday to see Mr. J. A. McPherson, who came home Sunday for a visit to his family, and parents, then left Mon day night for Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, where he will undergo an operation. Rev. 0. A. Kellar is conducting a meeting this week at Cameron Baptist Church. Mrs. R. C. Thomas has a fine fall garden of beautiful rich looking corn in the tassel and silk—^fall “roasting ears.” Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Tally, Mr. L. F. Hartsell, Miss Elizabeth Ray, Mr. L S. Thomas, and Miss Lucile Loving went to the entertainment by the sol diers from* Fort Bragg on National Defense Day. Mr. Robert Griffin, of Texas, is the guest this week of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McLean. Mr. John Gaddy is home from Kin ston, and will remain to assist his father, T. C. Gaddy, in his store, fill ing the place of his sister, who was married Sunday to Mr. C. N. Boaz. Mrs. Anna Culberson who has been visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. M. Wooten, returned Tues day to Sanford. Mrs. W. A. Coore on route one, spent the week-end with her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Cameron. Rev. 0. A. Kellar was the guest, Sunday night, of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Thomas. School Notes Miss Minnie Kimball, a tenth grade pupil, was married to Mr. John son last week. I believe the rest of the class prefers to work algebra a while longer. Miss Ruth Matthews, a ninth grade pupil, is ill at the Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford. We hope she will soon be able to resume her school work. Miss Ola Frye is back in school af ter a few days absence. The basketball goods have come, and have been erected. Some of the pupils have been at tending the meeting at the Baptist church. We are sorry to report Miss Kate Arnold, one of our teachers on the sick list today (Monday). We hope to see her back real soon. The most pleasant week in the month—“Test Week.” —Louise Womack, 10th grade MISS SUSIE PAGE PLEASANTS HOLDS FIRST PLACE The second week of balloting for the most popular young lady to rep resent “Miss Carolina” in the Parade of States at the Sandhill Fair leaves Miss Pleasants first by a margin of ten votes while Miss Isabell Morrow takes second place away from Miss Bridgham who is dropped to fourth place by the appearance of another candidate with a good start of 225 votes. The balloting has assumed the pro portions of a real contest already with the leading candidates very close to gether.
