Matthews and daughter, Miss Ernestine, of Sanford, were in Vass Wednesday morning on their way to Pinehurst to attend the meeting of the State Medical Society. Mrs. G. W. Griffin went to Hamlet, Wednesday, for a short visit. Mrs. J. B. Howell is keeping house for her during her absence. Mrs. Billy Welsh (Nee Miss Bertha Wilson) and children are visiting rela tives in Hamlet. Mrs. A. G. Edwards and small son, Wilbur, spent Wednesday in Raleigh. Mr. Frank Wright, of Broadway, was a business visitor here, Tuesday. Messrs. R. P. Beasley and Forrest Beasley, of Apex, were visitors here the last of the week. Mrs. George Brooks, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Cameron and Mrs. Vaughan Byrd went to Sanford Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. S. H. Creech and children. Jack and Clarice Cecil, returned last week from a visit to relatives in Smithfield. Tyson made a business trip to Jones boro, Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Ellis, of Southern Pines, have moved into the new cement block house built by Mr. Chandler, near the lower bridge. Mr. Ellis delivers ice for Mr. Chandler. Dr. J. F. McKay, of Buies Creek, spent Monday night with his daughter, Mrs. A. M. Cameron. He was on his way to Pinehurst. Mrs. S. R. Smith spent several days of last week in Fayetteville. Mr. Smith went down Sunday, and she returned with him. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Cox and small children and Mrs. Vaughan Byrd went to Sanford, Saturday. Mr. W. J. Cameron killed a whip snake in the edge of the dewberry field in front of his home a few days ago. The snake measured slightly more than six feet in length. Mrs. W. H. Keith and Mrs. G. W. Griffin were shopping in Sanford, Saturday. Little Miss Ruby Wooten, of Camer on, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Paul W. Joyner. Miss Allie Byrd Walker of the school faculty had as her guests for the week-end her sisters, Mrs. R. P.
