MANLY REUNION PICNIC Thirteen is said to be an unlucky number, but the thirteen Sandhill Farm Life school students of ’16 and ’17, who attended the reunion picnic at the canoe club on Lumbee river last Thursday say there is no truth in that saying. If “Miss Rankin” could have seen the beautiful, appetizing lunch the girls carried she could well feel prcnd of her former domestic science pupils. The table was simply loaded down with good things. In addition to the regular dinner, the boys provided weinies, which were cooked over a camp fire. After the eats, all were seated around the camp fire and talked over school days. Prof- Stanton, Dr. Hill, Misses Shamberger, Arrington, Rankin and Lamb were favorite topics of conversatiion. Many “yarns” of pranks and daring escapa des were told. Some of the old songs were sung and in memory all lived over again their high school days. Some one present made the followinrc remark: “Just think it never entered our minds ten years ago that we would have a reunion of this kind. We thought then we would all be fa mous by this time, but there’s not a famous one in the bunch.” I At a late hour this merry party dis persed, voting it to be the most en joyable evening they had spent in a long time and planning to make the reunion an annual event. The fol lowing were the privileged thirteen: Mesdames Anna Bower Braden, of Southern Pines, Alma McMillan Brown, of Victoria, Va., Ethel Dalry- mple McDonald, of Carthage; Misses Bessie McDonald, of Pinehurst, Em ma Wilson and Cornelia Phillips, of Manly, Ollie Shields and Annie Mae Caddell, of Carthage; Messrs Dan Smith and Landon Tyson, of Vass, Will Harrington and Jack Phillips, of Cameron and CJ^arlie McDonald of Carthage.
